Maybe I missed it, what did you use as a mount for the shocks on the axle? Fab something or did it come with the TG kit?

Adam, will I have problems with bottoming out my nitrochargers with the dakars and AAL? I don't wheel that hard anyway, but could it be a problem? I'll look into the axle relocation plates too. I don't have 33s so I don't think it'll be a problem right away anyway.

I just bought some energy suspension 4.5" bumpstops off Amazon and I think they will work great for me. I wanted timbrens but couldn't justify the price tag

No custom mounts and cross bar for shocks. Had to weld on tabs to the axle.

    I'd think you'll be fine till 33s.

I find it odd that most aftermarket leafs aren't quite right for the 01-04s. Guess ill need to do it to mine eventually.

If you really heat things up then it's probably a good idea, but a total of 4 1.5" welds probably didn't heat the gear oil too badly so I did not change the oil.

I'm actually looking at some different tents. The one I've been using works perfect on the trailer but it doesn't fit on the truck anymore with my spare tire swingout, unless I rebuild my bed rack taller.

It must be pretty close? About 10 inches instead of 6 above the rails?

yeah the tent is 6' long and on the 5' bed it hangs over the back a little which hasn't been a big deal until I did the swing out. The tent is about 7" too long now. The bedrack would need to be about 6-8" taller so the tent can fit over the spare tire.

Not worth all of that effort when I want to upgrade the tent anyway so I'm looking at something shorter

The CVT bachelor/Shasta..or any of the other brands that are similar..will fit the 5' bed. I meassured mine with my double cab.

Yeah I know. The trick for me is I'm looking for a bigger tent with an annex so that my wife and I can sleep in the tent and my 4 kids can sleep in the annex. There are some options, I'm just looking at all of them and trying to save money.

    hmmm...

My annex is..well. HUGE..could fit 4 kids no prob..just not when they all hit around 10-16 lol

But that being said too..you would want a higher rack too since even with my rack the annex is still a tad long. With yours the walls would be on the ground easy.

    Yeah I know.

Eezi-awn has one with an annex that is designed to go on a trailer so the annex isn't as tall and would work with my rack. Fortunately one of my good friends is an Eezi-awn dealer so I can probably try one out to make sure it will work. Only problem is that he just moved to Arizona.

Here's the tent I'm talking about. The Eezi-Awn Globetrotter. It is just about the perfect height for my rack.

Or go HUGE with the Globe Drifter. :) Honestly I'd love this one, but it is EXPENSIVE!!!
