Hey Adam did you relocate or adjust your ebrake cable at all? I noticed on page 1 of your build your cable appears to be going under the leaf springs. Mine are just barely above my springs. Like 1/4" or so above. I'm worried about my leaf springs hitting it when flexing around.

I think you'll be fine. If you're unsure about it, find a spot to flex it out and double check.

You should be fine. I did not change mine. '03-'04 the cable was routed under the springs. I'd rather have it like yours, much less chance of snagging it on rocks.

I have not regeared. Right now it's not part of the plan. If I ever add a front locker I'll probably regear to 4.88's at that point.

regearing is a bigger deal in a manual trans truck because you will lose some crawl-ability. It's not as big a deal with an auto trans as you can still easily crawl with the auto.

Yar, going 33s with a manual is workable but in the long run, regearing would be better. I lost oomph in the bottom end but could still pull out in traffic with confidence. I lasted about 4 months before I wanted the oomph back.

As for choice of gears, 4.56 got me back to factory feel with maybe a little more. I do have second thoughts about 4.88 but with the money and effort I spent getting 4.56, I'm good with the way it is for awhile.

Don't forget that a manual is geared different then an auto.

4.88s and 33s IMO with a manual is overkill. 4.56 would be better.

4.88s are nice for autos and 33s due to their gear ratios.

I didn't mine just being with stock 4.10s for a long time till I got my bed rack and a lot more armor. Rig just weighs too much now, really want to regear now.

Adam, what are your thoughts on the shackles you have? Are they 1.5'' longer than stock length shackles? The rear of my truck has already settled lower than the front and I want to even it out/add a little rake. Do you think that's the right way to go about doing it? I want to add a bumper and I know that will even out the ride, but I want a little rake as well.

Yep, that's what I would do if I were you. The Allpro shackles I'm running are 1.5" longer than stock. However, the bushings that come with the Allpro shackles are different than OME ones. I had planned on reusing the OME greasable shackle pins just with the AP bushings, but they are different so make sure you get new pins and bushings with the shackles. I'm sure you can sell your OME shackles.

I gotta say I was extremely pleased with the MTR's in Moab. They hooked up great on everything, flexed great with 12psi, and performed great. Surprisingly better than the KM2s I had on last year. Didn't think I'd be saying that but the MTRs were much better than I expected.

Considering these next time https://www.treadwright.com they have a tread that looks like the old MTR's which I ran on my last taco. I have the current MTRs now and agree with Adam they hook up on everything.

Every review I find on these guys is positive.

wasnt too impressed with tread rights in moab. no traction. and from personal experience, they balance like crap and are louder than when the fat lady sings.

    Well dang it Haha

Really tho? Louder than other tires? Everything else I read said they were quiet and one of the longer 2 part reviews was in moab each time.

Was hoping I found a small pot of gold $100 and change per tire? I could live with that hahaha!!

What size and tread design did you go with?
