    Haha! I'm a RedBull guy. Monster is for d-bags.

    Just bolt it on. I take my rack on and off all the time and it's held on with 8 bolts. Takes maybe 5 min. It will take you just as long to loosen clamps as it will to take out a few bolts. Clamps are not going to be nearly as secure.

    how did you go about drilling into the bed rails? because when I did it for my antenna the metal like splintered out and it was not a clean hole, it looked like I shot it with a handgun

    ^This. Also, you can use an old word-working trick and clamp a sacrificial peice of wood on the backside of what you're drilling. Then you won't get any of the splintered "pushout" on the backside of the hole.

    As Adam already pointed out: not really.

    Plus it'd be real clunky and awkward trying to clamp the rack down.

    FWIW we put an 1/8" backing plate behind the bed rail sheet metal. The latter is pretty thin and flimsy.

    I can tell a difference in traction. It's better but I don't think it has as much to do with the width of the tire as it does changing the tire I was running. Offroad, the MTRs hook up better than my KM2s did. So I think it's more the tread etc and maybe a small portion that is because of the width increase.

    Backing plate isn't necessary unless the entire mounting is hanging on the vertical part of the bed rail like Madjik_Man's is. Mark, since the feet on your rack are like mine with part of the feet sitting on top of the bed rail, you won't need backing plates. All the weight is carried on top of the bedrail instead of the sides like Madjik's. The bolts on the vertical part of the feet are there just to keep the rack from sliding or lifting off.

    adam...why didn't you call me an idiot for trying to use round tubing? it was nothing short of a disaster. couldn't get it to notch at all! got one cross bar welded on and it was absolute shit. I gave up and am getting square tubing tomorrow and finishing it, even though it hardly got started.

    bolted it in though, that turned out well
