I started with some remnant plate that cost me about $50. Total I probably spent $100.

    Thanks!

Sometimes I need to reconnect with the common man. :)

Finished up the slide for the fridge. I'll get pics soon. And I try to keep them more "professional" for Mark.

Here's some pics of the fridge slide. I started by building a "subframe" out of 1" sq tube and then mounted the Engel Transit Lock to the subframe. Then just welded some brackets to the drawerslides and bolted them to the bed using some eye-bolts to give me some extra tie-down locations if needed.

    _MG_3566_zps4498ec5f_8d99ae765443f40afc95aff1105248aadf0cf94b.jpg

The engel transit lock is pretty simple. There are feet that attach to the bottom of the fridge and then slide into these brackets locking the fridge in place.

It will slide out just past the edge of the tailgate.

The slide sits about .75" above the bed floor

I guess the one possible issue is how the bearings in the slide handle dust. We'll see in about 10 days when I leave for a trip across Utah all on dirt roads.

good work! nice clean look to it

    quick question for you.
have you caught the arms and or hinges for the swingouts ever? if so how have they held up?

i'm contemplating building swingouts for the TG rear bumper or selling it and building my own bumper/ swingout combo but my main concern (as unlikely as it may be) is coming down off of something and catching the arms. with that much weight/ leverage there i feel like trying to tuck them up a bit may be necessary.

I have never hit the arm on the trail. I've hit the hinge, but it took it no problem. 1/4" plate for the hinge plates is beefy. Also, for the hinge I'm using the 1" dia bolt is the actual hinge and I feel pretty confident it would handle typical trail contact just fine too.

It is more likely that you'll hit the spare tire coming down tall, steep ledges that it is to ever hit the arm. Hitting the spare tire can push it into the tailgate. I've never had that happen either, but I've seen it.

alright, thanks. It's just something that came to mind so i figured i'd ask. i've seen spares hit a few times too. i'm tossing around ideas to help with that too but simple may be the best way to go. i've been known to over think an idea or two

    That's slick, Adam.

Question: When you have the whole family camping for a night or two, you still have plenty of bed space for gear, etc?

This trip will start near St George and we'll finish up over in the LaSal Mountains. Starting at the lowest elevation and hitting the highest elevation in the state along the way.

This trip will start Thursday morning at the lowest elevation near St George. We'll finish in the LaSal's Saturday afternoon. That's driving hard for 12+hrs each day.
