Started on the paint removal on my ‘80 long bed. Each corner has a boxed section that are caulked around the edges. My ‘79 short bed didn’t have this as I recall. ( It’s been 21 years ). Any insight as to the function?5806BB19-8984-47D6-8513-B5BA2978E20E.jpg

    Structural adhesive? NVH management? Waterproofing?

Im sure its waterproofing but the bolts kind of throw me. Would this be an OEM rust replacement? My 79 rusted along the bed side, not so much the bed bottom.
