"I don't see anything wrong with that as long as they're not playing first-person shooter games, violent games, games with a lot of sexual or drug content."

There are like, what, two games ever made that don't fall into this category? that is truly sad

Thats ridiculous. Boy Scouts should try to be getting kids away from gaming. I heard somewhere that the average kid spends 4 hours a day playing video games! 4 hours leaves you with no time to do actual activities.

"I don't see anything wrong with that as long as they're not playing first-person shooter games, violent games, games with a lot of sexual or drug content.

^^^ haha are there any games besides these ones

That's some sh*t!! I got my eagle earning merit badges that actually were important to developing the necessary skills for being a man in society. At what point did video games become part of that? I like them and all, but really, a merit badge, WTF!!

I worked for 7 years at a BS camp. Every year national scales back the requirements for merit badges, and rank advancement. Eagle Scout used to mean that you were the top 2-3% of all Scouts, the new outlook is that any scout who doesn't quit out in a few years should be able to get Eagle (10% per year of my district got Eagle in what was known to be a tough board)

As a councilor I watched the change happen from being charged with changing boys to men to being pressured tp pass all the scouts in my classes despite actual skill and that if they couldn't do something it was my fault for making it too hard.

This inside joke finally happened, what a sad day indeed.

Here's a vote to put dodgeball back in schools and replace video games with pocket knives, lighters, dirt and imagination.

"Video game" and "merit" shouldn't be used in the same sentence... ever. I enjoy playing as much as anyone else but jeez, c'mon, what the hell do they teach you about anything real?

i would have joined the boyscouts when i was younger but even then, it still wasnt the same as it used to be... the stories my step dad tells about when he was in the scouts (eagle scout) sounded like so much fun (most of the time). now, the kids cant even be any where near harms way. WTF!
