Has anyone installed a brake controller on their OR? Looking for brake controllers & want a good reliable one.

Also, are they difficult to install?

    Thanks

Install is super easy. Your truck is already wired for them. As for recommendation :

Install is plug ‘n play if you have the tow package. I went with the Hopkins Insight 47297 controller, and 47816 harness. Amazon FTW.

The Insight has separate display and manual override modules, which provides more flexible mounting. I have the display mounted on my instrument cluster, and the controller under the right side of my steering wheel. The controller “brain” is screwed to the kick panel left of the brake pedal.

So is the factory wiring just tucked under the carpet or something?

Pop off the door sill plate, then the driver’s side kick panel. The connector is bundled up there.

That's a good question. I saw a utube where the pulled it out from under the steering column area, now I'm reading it's in the door?
I asked a toyota advisor during when at the dealer & he wasn't able to locate it and said a tech wasn't available to help. Guess some folks at toyota are only trained to wash the vehicles and write up service orders.
Anyone have a video on where the wiring is?

Thats a good point. All OR models to my knowledge in SE Toyota district have tow packages
Uhhh, in addition some people are only trained to do numbers while some are only trained to clean the bathrooms. That's kinda how businesses work man.

I cant believe my bank janitor wont help me max my IRA contributions.

Not sure where you got “in the door”....
First remove the door sill plate:

Then remove the kick panel: BF43BCA6-9E30-4C27-9347-241F7A51C1BF.jpg

The connector is up underneath behind the fuse box:
