    what brake pads do you guys use
    about how many miles before first brake change???
    did u have rotors cut???

    Lots of folks like the Hawk low dust pads. EBC also makes some good pads.
    You can take the calipers off and look at the pads to see how you are doing for wear.
    And you shouldn't need to get rotors turned unless you have some warping or vibrations.

    i use my gears a lot so i probably will last close to 90,000 or 100,000 but it would be nice to know what are the prefered brands that are long lasting....

    Maybe you should collect some brands and start a poll...

    There is no need to remove the caliper. Remove the wheel and have a look at the pad material remaining.

    are you saying you know someone who got 80,000 miles on a set of brake pads or rotors?? has to be rotors right...

    shouldnt you always turn the rotors when you get new pads, regardless of how they look?

    it is a good idea to get them turned since you're already in there replacing the pads. It's cheap to turn them.
