Atmospheric fallout. Rail dust. Whatever you want to call it. Needs a clay treatment asap.

Sent you a message. I haven't given them a chance to look at the car yet, so I don't want to broadcast anything.

factory side step, didn't get a chance to do anything to it yet, haven't even got to put it in 4 wheel mode yet. Lame, but I work a lot.
Same thing happened to me on a car I used to own. It is probably not coming from under the paint. I agree clay bar buff would probablly do the trick.

So just found this thread and posted in another about rust, but my trucks less than a year old and rusting in these weld spots between the bed and cab area, no road debris just looks like improper paint/sealing.... anyone else see this issue? Taking it in for the scheduled care service next week and planning to see what their solution is. I really dont want to deal with getting between that tight space myself to grind and paint it.

rdpoe has a good idea,,,,just make sure you wash it good after and then apply either a sealant or wax,,, this would be a good time to clay your car,, before the wax or sealant. Just my 2cent. EDIT: I apologize for maybe not being clear in my post. I was referring to the small spots on the outside of the truck. Not the spot weld spots.

Use the iron x remover on the truck, clean it well, and wax it. It will turn the rust deposits purple. A whole bottle should be good for the truck. I had a bunch on plastic fenders and front bumper.

I do this every 2 years on both my vehicles, it’s just a hell of a lot easier to see on white vehicles but it’s on all colors.

As much as I wish this was rail dust. I'm not sure it is. I had the same on my 2018. If you search a bit you'll fine it's a known "issue."

I think it's more prevalent in the white than any other color, but the fact if the matter is you have a warranty for a reason. I'd take it to the dealership.
