No I never tried reving the engine in park. I came to the conclusion it was some kind of driveline noise it never got worse. I would request your Toyota dealer have a field tech from corporate look at your truck. Sadly it might be a noise you have to live with man

My stock 2023 2.7 4x2 6AT DCSB with 11k miles makes the same noise in the same manner.

Things I’ve tried but still have it:

    Added Lubeguard Shudderfix
Drain, refill and check trans fluid level
    Removed Cat theft Protection
    Check tire pressure
    Using ECT Power

Interesting. I noticed that I can reproduce the noise in park/neutral at between 1,500-2,000 RPMs. Are you able to do the same?

I had a friend hit the gas while I poked around the engine bay. It seems to be coming from the driver’s side of the bay but it’s hard to tell exactly where it’s coming from.

Interesting indeed. I had a new 2005 4x4 2.7 manual that started making a high pitch whine around 50-55mph at less than a year old. Turned out to be bad bearings in trans.
They rebuilt it and about a year later the whine was back. They now put in a RECONDITIONED trans. Same thing as rebuilt...and a few months later I had tranny fluid leaking all over the place.
Blew the top freeze plug out. Odd? Toyota now had to replace the whole tranny, bell housing and clutch because of fluid blown all over the place. I said to the service manager "maybe you should have done it RIGHT the first time. No reply and no more tranny issues till I sold it in 2021. It had plenty of other issues I never had with my 86 4x4. Too many to list them here.
Still the biggest piece of junk I ever bought was a 1981 Ford 4x4 straight six. Three years and I had enough of FORD fix or repair daily.

So far my 2022 4x4 Access has been pretty good other than weird auto trans shifting sometimes. Left ankle issues forced me to auto after 50 yrs.

The noise (described as whirring) can be replicated using the stall test, or when driving at low RPM and light acceleration, typically around 25-32 MPH, sometimes low MPH and again around 40MPH. It doesn't shake the truck, but there is a faint vibration accompanied by the noise. It can't be replicated by just being in Park and bringing up the RPM's.

Tried getting underneath the vehicle for a sound test while in the parking lot with a friend in the driver seat held the brake while in Drive but the test was inconclusive because I couldn't isolate it.

    Other things I've tried...

Checking Cat heat shields for tightness
    Shaking exhaust system for tightness
visually inspected carrier bearing and u-joints
Checked intake plenum inside the right fender well
    Running premium gas

Like I said, specifically the noise between 35-45 MPH as some were talking about.

As for your noise, I can't really hear it. Have you had your fluid levels checked?

More when colder? Maybe a fan clutch that isn't up to snuff?

My noise does not occur at specific speeds. It occurs are specific RPMs regardless of whether or not the truck is in motion. The truck has 2,000 miles on it and all of the fluid levels were checked by me upon delivery (with the exception of the transmission and differential fluid levels). Since the same noise occurs when the truck is parked AND in motion, I don’t believe it’s possible for the transmission or differentials to be the culprit. This is almost certainly an engine fan, belt, or accessory power noise from what I have gathered thus far.

Yes, more when cold. Also, weirdly, it always occurs if I let the truck warm up for more than 5 minutes before driving using my remote starter. It almost never occurs when I just “get in and go”. I can’t make sense of that part.

My truck makes the same noise under certain conditions. I am almost certain it is the intake "whistling". I have heard aftermarket intakes cause the same noise on other vehicles I have owned.

Try seeing if the noise is still present with the AC and / or defrost off. My truck (3.5 v6) had a whistle every time the AC compressor cycled, T-SB-0004-22. Happened every single time the compressor cycled, was most noticeable at light acceleration or 45-60 mph cruising speed but could replicate in park at 2,000 rpms.

TSB was fairly invasive and not sure I would have dealer do it again but the whistle is gone. Basically replaced the evaporator core which includes the expansion valve and with updated part.

It is 40 degrees where I am so I haven’t been running the AC at all. It occurs when the heat is on or off though. The HVAC system doesn’t seem to play a role whatsoever. I’m going to look into the fan clutch and see if that solves it. Are those difficult to replace on the 2.7L?

It does sound like that, yes. I thought of that too which is why I had a buddy step on the gas while I looked under the hood. The sound is absolutely not coming from the airbox or passenger side of the engine bay. It can be heard loudest when leaning into the engine bay from the driver’s side front headlight area. It’s just impossible to pinpoint the exact location of the sound due to the ambient noise from the engine revving.

Do you also have the 2.7L? Can you reproduce the sound when the truck is parked as well?

I have the 3.5 v6. I have never tired to reproduce it personally. I don't think it does it often enough that I even could reproduce it. I know it usually only does it under light acceleration low RPMs, around 2k or so. I have been towing a lot lately and I have noticed it when the engine is loaded down trying to accelerate onto the highway a few times.

I did find these threads talking about the same noise with videos if you haven't seen them yet. I glanced through and it seems like nobody really knows for sure what it is.

It would be impossible that the noises talked about in those videos are the same as mine. The engine passes through various RPM ranges and the noise randomly occurs. My noise occurs at specific RPMs. I can sit in my truck, in park, with my foot on the gas at 2k~ RPMs and reproduce the noise for hours continuously. I can hold the RPM’s and drive my neighbors crazy with the whistling sound from my truck if I wanted to.

I'm done with troubleshooting; it's a 2023 and under warranty, so it's going to the dealer during the last week of December.

I had to put my headphones on to hear it in your video. If the sound disappears when truck is at operating temperature, don't worry about it. Could be any number of things, fan clutch, power steering pump, smog pump, heat shield... Fluids in the fan clutch and power steering system will have higher viscosity when cold.
