Mine were no where near as pretty as yours!
I suck at putting the risen bun into the water bath - have the same trouble when I make bagels..

But I learned some stuff for next time and they still taste hella good - gonna take them to work tomorrow and make everyone breakfast sandwiches on em.

I got some good chunky salt and yea that part came out well

Pre/boil, they stuck to the parchment, so getting them off = deflated/ruined the rise quite a bit; this is what I gotta work on

I also used AP Flour per the recipe - next time I am gonna do 50:50 with bread flour and see if that helps

    Thanks for sharing!!

Your friends and family are gonna be like "all this stuff is so cool! Your neighbor made it?"

    "Why...is he so fat?"

I am liking this 2 day bulk ferment in the fridge..

Dividing up the labor aspect of making bread appeals to me and the dough is easier to shape + tastier (still not to sourdoughs yet ..)

This week I made flatbread - made a dozen so at least 8 will make it to the freezer for my future enjoyment.

    @Kwikvette

I need you to come weld up my grill!

I had the lid reinforced with a steel plate but now the lower box needs to have some plate welded in - -

Flatbread, hamburger buns, pretzel rolls, cinnamon rolls - name your carb!

Send some of your goodies over lol I'm having withdrawals since I had to drop out of school :anonymous:

Lol another member/buddy came by today and said exactly that; he'll need me to weld on his sliders!

Hell, even a pizza from a local place is enough for me but nothing beats home made goods!

Fair to say I did lose weight..or maybe just stopped gaining :anonymous:

Story time, and deviation from this thread

Posted stuff I made for a local FB group member, so another group member asks for a custom modular bed rack for his 2nd Gen.

Go over details via FB messenger, and he wants removable panels that he can add/remove and adjust as needed depending on the gear he takes when he's broverlanding.

Final message was "and I want to be under $400 LOL"

Told him with all due respect, I'd be spending more than half that in materials as he wanted varying thickness and sizes of steel used throughout.

"I can't design, measure and cut multiple parts, weld, while making others bolt on for $150 in labor. We're talking $1,000 for this job parts and labor"

Fast forward a few months and I see a post asking for welding advice on the same group. I responded, not knowing it was him asking the questions until he messaged me and the old messages popped up.

Was really nice being able to revisit the ordeal as I gave him some pointers but also asked "do you have a bandsaw yet?...etc" only for him to reply with "no, too expensive"

Experience by itself is worth a lot, which is why a lot of trades charge big bucks. But there's something to be said about the large investment in all the tooling as well. I told him "See? Now you understand why I had to turn you down."

I totally get that - like a good mechanic with the right tools/knowledge is worth every penny..

Try n do it cheaply and you wind up with an expensive mess to fix

It just got me, the first time I realized what it was gonna cost me to have them sliders put on - sports car stuff was always $ but the truck is even more $$

That's why I do focaccia all the time. It's so easy to just slop it together. I don't want a project, I just want to make some good bread to mow down.

    :D

I don't know if I have a picture of my first loaf, but picture what was supposed to be a sourdough boule came out like an inch thick bread-brownie-hybrid monstrosity. Many things wrong with it.

I'm a sourdough guy, but that's just preference. Good luck, and enjoy it!

 YUH. I sold my old hatchback mazda for my truck - mistake, should have kept the Mazda as a second car. Just "having and maintaining" a truck is $$$. I just got stuff for an oil and ATF change last night for both the camry and the truck. Truck is +1 qt of oil, +2 qts of ATF compared to the Camry.

    And Tacomas are SMALL o_O

...I'm going back to a bicycle

WHY. WHY on earth. Please tell me there's SOME sort of container that is spot on for that, that they used for that to make sense?

The Tacoma is 6.2QT technically, but a 5+1 measured in spec the first time I did it, and it hasn't let me down since the first one, about 60k on the clock - first was at 1k, and then 5k then every 10k since. I think. It's been a while, whatever.

O.O that's bananas. I didn't know they were THAT much bigger. One more reason not to get an HD for funsies.

I think I got the whole recipe/shaping/cooking down, finally

The goal, this time, is to NOT eat them all and freeze some - they freeze really well, 20second in the nuker = ready to eat and they don't take up much space
