Took it wheeling today and the steering wheel is off a few degrees now, I'll have to get the alignment checked.
I didn't think I was hitting the bumps that hard. :)

The club went up Cherokee Park and tried to push through to Tie Siding but we were stopped by 6-8' drifts so we came back through Red Feather via Prairie Divide Road. Was really nice up there. More mud too...

I was the designated cable puller, strap tender for most of the morning, then I grew bored and drank coffee in the truck until we left. We had some competition with a couple jeeps, two vintage land cruisers and a full size Blazer who wanted to see just how stuck they could get, I lose interest in that sort of thing pretty quick, they can pull their own cable for that stuff. :) Blazer ended up breaking wheel joints and had to be winched most of the way out. I've been in this club long enough that when the measuring stick comes out, I do my own thing, like lunch.

There may be some more on Facebook, I don't know cause i don't Facebook. Look for Larimer County 4 Wheel Drive Club, or The Mountaineers, if your interested.

    Mountaineers website

There's a link to the Facebook page

The power steering pump is about to give up the ghost so I replaced it today.
Rebuild from Napa, reused my reservoir and pulley. $120.00 from Napa with exchange.
EDIT; I don't have pics but don't forget to clean the reservoir while you have it apart, I used a parts washer, then sprayed it through with carb cleaner, and shined a flashlight through the port to inspect the screen. Take the time to get all the crud out. (Thanks Squeaky Penguin!)

It was very cool of Toyota to put these access holes in the pulley, really made an easy job of removing it
    [IMG]

I decided to change the belts while I was a third of the way in there and discovered the idler pulley for the AC was toast.
By the way, is there any job on the engine that doesn't require removing the damn skidplate? i don't see getting an aftermarket job unless they come with some kind of easy disconnect.
This the pulley location, I have the pulley removed.

    Old bearing
    [IMG]

new bearing installed. $22.00 from Napa
    [IMG]

Everything is all quiet now, no whining, except maybe from me about the skidplate:rolleyes:, steering is quiet again.

You can get those bearings for about 6 bucks at the motorcycle shop on Drake. I even got a spare just in case.

Hmm, wonder if that's what is causing my noises?

My power steering groans when I turn and I have a slight whirring sound when it's cold.

Exactly what mine has been doing.
Yesterday I started it up and it sounded like a turbine under there, not that there would be anything wrong with that.

Glad you brough this up, because I almost forgot to mention it.

Brett, I hope you checked the screen inside that resevoir when you had it out. They have a screen in them that is notorious for getting clogged. When I got my tuck, it made a bit of whining noise upon startup when it was cold. I took the resevoir out, cleaned that screen, flushed the system, and it's been good ever since.

I've also read you can remove that screen, and replace it with a higher-quality in-line filter.

I cleaned the res in the parts washer, checked the screen with a flashlight from the other end until it was spotless. Good point that you brought up, it would be an easy step to skip.

I should know by now that you're always way ahead of me....

... but yeah, Brent, I would check that screen before you do anything.

    You didn't ask. :D

Mine gets a bit vocal when cold, I was thinking about flushing it before the problem gets worse.

Changed some vacuum lines today, still have some more to do, seems every size known to man is on this engine. I didn't get to all the little lines around the evap canister yet.

Hey you don't happen to have the old positive battery terminal clamp from when you did your wiring upgrade do you? As it turns out the PO of my runner never looked at the battery. Almost anything metal touching the old lead acid battery is completely gone. I have the positive clamp pretty much taped on! I would be willing to send some beers your way

I don't have the original but I do have some brass terminal clamps you're welcome to have. I was going to use them before I got the upgrade from Bamatoy so no longer have a use for them now.
