I currently have these bad boys in there. Took out the OSSRAM's. Like the light distribution of the OSSRAM bulb better, but these are BRIGHT. Get weird shadows with the camera. Not sure I want to stay with them, might go back. Sure fun in a busy parking lot though when these light up!

These are just enough brighter to be useful - cheap garden lamps at Home Depot. Easy mod that works well in original sockets

I replaced my reverse lights with Feniex Cannon Hide-aways. Raw output is something like 2400 Lumens, each, but I'm assuming that's for the white only. I'm running White/Amber (six 4watt cree LEDs per color, or twelve if single color, all in same housing), so probably 1200 White Lumens, and something less for the Ambers.

Was a super easy install. The light is the same diameter as the receptacle in the Tacoma's housing. Just drilled it out with a 1 inch hole saw, shaved the area down to slide the new light head in, and simply screwed the light into place with included screws.

Personally, I bought this light in Amber/White in order to have rear facing strobe lights as I'm a member of a local Search and Rescue unit and they come in handy. The Feniex light allows three "modes", each controlled by a separate positive wire, that overrides the previous in turn (there is a priority list). We wired the Tacoma's existing reverse wire to the highest priority, and set the "pattern" to brake pop, white only. This means when I put the truck in reverse, they flash two or three times, then stay on solid.

We thought about running another mode to the blinkers, but decided against it for the sake of time. And of course one mode is for the strobe function which is controlled by a separate controller for changing patterns. Sorry I don't have any pics of the reverse lights on, wasn't really my purpose for installing, even though they are brighter than stock.

Would anyone know if these lights also fit a 1st Gen Tacoma? I realize the item is listed for 2005+ Tacomas, but I thought I'd ask.

I'd be interested in the heat output. I own a 1300 lumen Power Tac flash light and it get's hot enough on the highest setting to where you want to hold the flashlight around the tail cap. LED's put off a lot of heat.

Actually, it's not the LEDs that give off the heat. It's the circuit board that drives the LEDs. And yes, they do get pretty warm!
