It's the force before the impacts though that will lead to warped buckets.

For what ever reason it failed unless you have the truck since it was new even then it could have been dropped unloading.

Find some one to fix it order the new part from Toyota .

Rebuild both sides and build some Custom brackets

I've never jumped the truck at any time. That's what I find so odd about it. I was quoted a minimum of $1600 from the same guy who installed the lift. Every shop I've called has basically said I'm screwed and that they would be about 5-6 weeks out for doing custom fab work on it to repair and do new brackets to stop this from happening again. The suspension is stiff. Could the stiff suspension have been the problem?

take it to a welding/fab shop. $1600 is ridiculous.

looking at how its all still there and just sheared its nothing a bit of heat and welding cant fix.

It almost looks like the shock inside the spring seized, otherwise how would it have bent like that? My guess is that when you hit the bump the shock didn't give at all, and the coil bucket had to... Good luck!

I've done a mod or two
Sure it does, your buckets aren't without shock loads just because you have bumpstops. The bumpstops certainly do take away the final massive blow though over your suspension fully cycling. There is still a huge impact when a spring compresses quickly like when you jump. There are literally hundreds of thousands of little shock loads every time you just ride on a paved road. We all know rapid stress loads can warp steel, and fatigue like this will occur when the steel can no longer deform elastically.

:fingerscrossed:Thanks for all your help guys. I got the truck at a fabricator right now and the insurance company is sending an adjustor out to take a look at it tomorrow or the day after. Since it was damage to the frame and it happened on the road, they might be able to help. Still will take the better part of 2-3 months to get fixed and done properly. Instead of going back to stock parts, the fabricator suggested doing a long travel or SAS on it. Either way, it's going to cost upwards of $5,500 stock and $7,500 upgraded. This thing has turned into a nightmare. Hopefully insurance goes thru and covers the majority of the costs:fingerscrossed:

You do realize your bumpstops are only there for when your suspension runs out of travel, right? All of that force that the coilover isnt dampening is going right into that coil bucket.

They also dont make gussets for this they make gussets that will support it on the sides, but for something like this, a cross over brace connecting the towers is the only way to strengthen the tops.

OP your only fix is an aftermarket coil bucket. I wouldnt try to reweld that piece back together

I think you are on to something there
Without extended bump stops the modified suspension could be just hammering away at the upper control arm.
these suspensions and frames are pretty darn lightweight and rinky tinky, I cringe when I look under there

No, Its not normal, I would say either

OP didnt do a full inspection when he bought the vehicle and original owner had alot more fun than he let on

OP is mobbing hard and calling it "fire roads"

OPs fire roads are rougher than most I've seen and has had some hard its

This kind of failure is the result of hard hits. Shock hydrolock I dont see here unless he was jumping or going through a rough section at speed, but I could see him not having tall enough bumps and used his shock as a bump to many times. As stated above, rust on the breaks looks like it was a progessive failure with the speed bump being the final straw
