Here in Central TX we have deer everywhere and I am thinking of getting a brush guard for the truck.

I am looking for recommendations on brands, cost ect.

    Thanks

get u a Westin, preferrably the Westin Sportsman. its a one piece and it attaches to the frame in four places not in two places like some of the brush/grill guards do. i think mine ran about 600 dollars but it has been worth every penny. and i have hit a good amount of stuff on accident and for fun. but take a look into that one. u can also get it in chrome if u are a chrome addict

get a westin, i've got one installed on my 1st gen and it saved my front end in a wreck. It held up really well considering i spun into a guardrail, brackets got bent up but fixed it easily. Also, if u get one, get it in black because the black ones look so much better than chrome. plus the brush guard gives you somewhere to mount some lights.

not to mention, in my opinion the black looks MUCH better than the chrome. The black also makes it seem more useful to me because the chrome just looks too gaudy... but everyone has their own opinions about the color. The main reason why I got my brush guard was to protect my truck from all the deer here in South Georgia. And yes, it has saved my front end a good about of times as well

Stay away from Hunter Truck Wholesale. They are probably the cheapest you will find, but they shake like crazy on rough roads.

I don't mind my Hunter. Even went with the stainless steel since I didn't think the black would look right on my truck. Considering the price was half of what I'd pay for most others, I wasn't expecting the best quality, and couldn't care less what happens to it. Connects in four places and doesn't shake much if you tighten the bolts right.

Grill Guard. PIAA 520's. And ...
Just make sure you occasionally re-torque your bolts and check your mounts so you can catch something like this before it happens.

It's a good thing my old man has a welder and steel is cheap, because I'm pretty sure I can make a mount that is stronger than that. I will say it broke where it was destined to fail, at the bend.

It does give it a Hilux appearance.. lol i get asked all the time by other Tacoma owners, " What kind of truck is that?" esp in person at gas stations and what not and i simply reply, "its the same as yours buddy" lol :D

    Good looking setup, redraider.

I'd like to get one of those next time I visit in San Antonio. Can you recommend a Bexar County area dealer who sells & installs these?

    Thanks!
