Friday should have some time to install the brake upgrade. Finally got all the pieces in the mail:

    IMG_3935.jpg

Can't wait to see if there is significant brake performance improvement, but anything will be better than the original pads and rotors I still have on at 75K miles.

Also need to find out why my ABS light is on and staying on, hopefully just a dirty sensor or something little.

No one was paying attention to you because you took no pics for insta.

I thought you had that one from @stronghammer. Eddy and I were busy trying to get you straightened out.

You should be scared, and pay more attention to the orientation of your truck on the side of a mountain.

    And the results are in....

My truck stops way better than expected it to. Had it fully weighted down, did some break in runs. I feel confident now when I brake from higher speeds (60-0). Definitely worth the time to get this done if you have 17" wheels. (Not sure 16" wheels would clear the bigger rotors) It's like the 1st gen tundra brake upgrade but for 2nd gens with 4Runner/Lexus parts.

Thanks for the update. That's a hell of a lot cheaper than the Stoptech Big Brake Kit.

there's no way you can get your money's worth out of that kit compared to this upgrade. This upgrade is better than just aftermarket options but a hell of a lot cheaper than the TRD/Stop Teck Big brake system. I would like to see about converting the rear to discs however. Haven't explored that yet and I imagine it's expensive as hell.

I think this is definitely my next project. With this upgrade and keeping your drums adjusted you should be good to go.

    New Years resolution:

To go West and see the other part of the country at least once in my life.

    Plan:

Sometime end of June first week of July trip through multiple states. Haven't decided if I want to go northwest to Montana down and across UT/CO or south west to AZ and up across NV/UT/CO.

    Steadily build my camp setup
Put on the dirty fives (Cooper STT Pros)
    All Pro Springs
    Relocate battery to bed
    Spare parts
    Rebuild front shocks
    All fluids changed
    Weld diff diaper

You can help by letting me drag your ass across country.

Seriously though I need you to weld my cab mount and diff diaper so I'll head that way sometime between now and April...last time I welded my cab mount for 34's, looks horrible lol.

I wish I could. You know I would be snuggled up with you in your rtt again if I could. But sadly it's not in the cards for at least a few more years.

Well you need to head this way sometime anyway so I can repay all of your hospitality.

I want to go back to this for a sec. I noticed the most braking difference at speeds greater than 40mph, which makes since with the bigger pads, drove 12 hours interstate at 70mph this weekend and haven't felt my truck stop from that speed like it did in a while, I'm very happy with it.

Very good, I'm impressed that it's working out this well. I have a popup camper in the bed 97.2% of the time and slowing the "covered wagon" is a concern. This sounds like the best bet.

Appreciate the update, hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!

97.2% is a very specific number and I like it. Also, I think you'll be pleased with this set up over the other options! Merry Christmas my friend!
