I've searched this forum thoroughly and haven't found much info on the BTF +4.5 4wd LT kit for the second gens. I am seriously interested in this kit, but their website doesn't give much info at all except a claim that it cycles 14". It appears that it comes with the 4wd axles included in the $3500 package, but I can't tell if they're just the shafts or the whole assembly. I've been trying to get in touch with them but so far have not been lucky.

Just wondering / hoping that someone else on here has their kit and can offer some insight before I get too excited about it. If it's a complete and legit kit I can have it shipped to me with king comp adj coilovers for just under $5100 which is a steal for a 4x4 kit.

Here is the kit I'm referring to:

    Thanks guys :)

I haven't heard of anyone on here running anything from BTF.

I have found a select few builds. I figure maybe this thread can bring some light to their kit since not many people know about it. Apparently it's a much smaller scale setup than other companies which explains a lot

I ran BTF on my 1st gen tundra and had no complaints, only downside is that you can't run a bypass unless it's their race kit. Brandon did the install and kept my up to date the entire way. Awesome customer service, any issues I had I dropped my truck off and he took care of it asap. I actually messaged him about his tacoma kit for the third gen and he was willing to give a discount because at that time he hasn't fitted it to a third gen yet, not sure if that still applies. Hit him up on Instagram, when I was in the process of doing my tacoma he responded to my emails promptly. They could be busy tho, they run the shop out of their house. I have his number if you want to text him.

From their website: "At 4.5” wider per side, this kit achieves approximately 14” wheel travel with working 4wd. " - Seems rather wide for that limited amount of travel compared to:

That BTF kit is very well priced if it includes assembled +4.5 axles, but you're not getting any additional travel for the additional inches of track width and there's not the expandability of the DD and Solo kits.

You're right about the travel numbers - I figured they were being on the conservative side and could probably cycle a little more with some tinkering. The solo kit is definitely more than I am willing to spend unfortunately. I'm curious what the dirt designs 4x4 kit retails for though. If it's within the price range I would definitely consider it. I figured +4.5 wouldn't be that bad looking with some very large glass. It would definitely need a wider rear end though.

Here’s a couple pics of the lower arms in process and on a truck.
I don’t do forums much these days, we’ve actually made some tweaks to the kit that should get us a little better than 14” travel but Can’t say for sure until I try one myself first. I’d rather err on the conservative side.

I’ll try to check in here more often, but I’m very available by phone and on our Instagram page.

Thanks, those arms look sick! I will find some time this week to call you. Can you clarify what all comes with the 4x4 kit? I'd assume all hardware and the axle shafts which I need to install into my OEM joints. And how long does it take you to get a kit shipped out on average?

4x4 kit comes with assembled axles to make things easier on the customer. They’re near impossible to get apart without destroying cv joints.

Yes but the shocks are obviously not included in the kit price.

Correct, tube uca, boxed lca. These were some black kings we got for a customer on a Silverado kit.

I’m running the same kit on my DD 4runner, I haven’t had the truck that long but have about 5,000 miles on the kit and probably 500 or so Offroad miles.

Brandon will the third gen kit allow you to run a bypass? Or is it coilover and bumps only?

Bypasses will also fit. I haven’t made a secondary shock hoop yet but when we designed it I made sure it would clear

That's good to hear, what's the benefit of going with the heim upper versus the basic long travel kit? I have 2wd. No race kit yet? Itching for you to build my tacoma haha.

Little more adjustment for camber and caster, that’s about the only advantage to heims vs bushings.

No race kit yet, I’d need a truck dropped off for mock up on a race kit.
