what would be a good budget amp brand to look at for with 4 channels to power front and rear speakers only. I am interested in speaker sound quality, not loudness.
100 watts rms x 4 would be nice.

    Power Acoustik?
    JBL?

I have a Sony XM-554ZR. It's 55 watts RMS and got it from wally world for 75 bucks. A lot of people don't like sony amps but it does what I want it to do. Do your research and read reviews on sites like sonicelectronix, crutchfield, online stero & hookedontronics. Good luck.

i've used MTX in the past and never had any problems. They take a pretty good beating too.

I never tried but my guess is no.

    However the Sony xm-4s would.

At that price level, I'd have to say that you are going to be hard pressed to find what you want. I'm starting to find a trend here, and as your budget goes up, things go loud and nasty > quiet and clean > loud and clean.

I'd recommend trying to find some of the less-than-mainstream, but still reputable companies, as you pay less for the name and more for the product. Back in the day (1997), I was very pleased with a 75W RMS Soundstream, but I don't know the quality now. It couldn't compete in volume to a Rockford punch 125.2, but the RF was built much cheaper and sounded much worse.

I would really like to encourage you to save and plan. Replacing things multiple times costs more and you are unhappy through the whole ordeal.

Going off of your previous post, I would still have to recommend replacing the deck, as it's going to be the cheaper option.

I concur. I assumed aftermarket speakers and a deck were already apart of the equation and ddave47 just needed an amp. My bad.

After searching ebay for three days I ended up with a Pioneer Premier PRS-D4100F, Class D for $173 shipped. It was only a few bucks more than $100 and way better quality. Thanks to everyone's input.
