I would think the wheel spacers on a tacoma running 255/80's would rub. That's like a 3/4 inch net, they already are very close anyway right?

By the way looks like the Duratracs are going to take the W on the poll; 265/75/16's it is! Thanks TW!

Recap: Icon Stage 3 with Dakar springs, icon UCA's, rear extended brake lines, FJ black TT wheels wrapped with 265/75/16 Duratracs. Cannot wait to get this on!

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
If those are true OEM wheels thats a great deal

Sounds like a awesome setup. I would recommend keeping your preload low with the icons, then pull the 3rd leaf in the dakars so the rear end of the truck isn't to much higher than the front. I still think you should go with 255s though.

Very good point with the 3rd leaf removal, what do you mean by keeping preload low? That should decrease preload right? Also keeping them at the preadjusted 2.5"? I plan on 1.25-1.5 thread showing should be close? And why 255's? I'm not opposed to that size just curious.

I mean dont crank up the icons real high, especially if you go with 265s, you really dont need to much lift. Even on high end suspension systems like icon, to much preload on the coils can decrease ride quality.

I just like the look of 255s, a true 33" tire with minimal rubbing and great offroad performance for most types of off roading when compared to flotation tires. I would love to own a set strictly for trail use. That size has its cons, you want a skinny wheel, if you go with aftermarket wheels most are wider than ideal size, the choices in that size are limited and you are pretty much stuck with a mud terrain unless you go with toyos, which are very expensive. Thats just my opinion. I run duratracs in 285 and i think they are awesome, they do really well offroad and they are awesome in deep snow. I am not suprised that they are winning the poll, very popular tire here, but i am suprised no one has thrown out the weak sidewall argument about the goodyears yet

So do you think I could get 2.5" out of the Icon's without too much preload? If so I may just leave the 3rd leaf in because I do want a little rake. Those Dakars give 2.75" from what I've read. Ha, yea I've read about those weak sidewalls, who cares they look awesome. Thanks for your help man!

You'll probably get more like 2.5" out of the Dakars. What are your current center hub to fender measurements in the back? Here's a thread with average lift heights: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/173193-2nd-gen-ome-dakar-hub-fender-measurements.html

2.5" should be alright, i wouldn't go much higher. Decide for yourself though once you get them installed, mess around with the heights a little and test it out. I dont even have my icons installed yet so what do i know? Haha, thats kinda my plan when i put them on.

If you go with the full Dakar pack in the rear and 2.5" in the front, you will be a bit tail high and quite stiff.

I have OME with trim packer, and the toytec .25 spacer up front which has given me a little bit more than 2.5". With the full pack I was still tail high. I removed the 3rd leaf from the top and it sits level and rides very nice.

1/4 inch tail high or less wont bother me any, I'm not concerned with leveling really, actually like the factory rake. Will removing the 3rd leaf make that much change in ride quality though?

Having some rake is not only good for hauling loads but it also helps you see over the hood a little better. Even being able to see a few more inches in front of you helps out on the trail. I removed the third leaf and it rides pretty soft, but i am not sure how much stiffer if any it would be with the leaf in the pack.

In my own experience and opinion, YES I did notice quite a bit of difference in the ride. I was also concerned with load capacity after removing the 3rd leaf. I still have greater capacity with the 3rd leaf removed than I did with the TSB Pack.

It is an easy thing to change out and back if needed.

I don't find that Dakars all that stiff. I think they're pretty plush for the first little bit of travel. I like them. Guess it's a personal preference kind of thing.
