Ya. Little slower than hoped but its moving along.

That snow is nothing. We've been having terrible rainy weather. Id take more snow over the clay mud disaster the back and side yards are now!

I'm very happy with the way the house is looking though. Black slate front step. All the rock looks great. Matching black slate around the fireplace to come.

The styrofoam blocks with concrete is awesome! We have that for our garage. Awesome insulation and it makes the building stronger.

It is great. And it keeps the house very quiet.

Another update... I do hate painting red. Even on dark primer it takes a lot!

Not right to the window. Have some foam stuff in there and silicone. Apparently the foam is air and moisture. Silicone just added for the bottom. And that bay is the only area that was wood framed.

Basically followed what the inspector wanted on that one.

guide wires on the chimny? permanent? did you consider a frame/siding chimny box? or a stone or stucco veneer chimney?

and why did you split the siding over the garage door? to avoid joints? (instead of a few random joints, you now have one big joint?) or you like the architecture of it?

also, your jobsite looks like a bomb went off...that would drive me crazy.

btw, I'd critique the fireplace but I don't want to be disrespectful (I hope you don't take my post the wrong way)

good luck with your new home.

Critiques are always welcome. Won't be offended.

Re: the chimney. We went back and forth with extending the box up and not. Those are support posts required because of the chimney height. Time will tell still undecided if that was the best decision.

The line in the center is decorative. It's Hard I tell in the dark, but there is a shield shaped piece in the center right above the door. There are some additional pieces to be added later. The idea being to break up such a large uniform surface.

The picture doesn't do the fireplace justice but i am curious of your critiques... I'm not qualified as a contractor by any stretch so input from those with knowledge is always appreciated.

I'm happy with the jointing and the mantel piece. The rock definitely needs a good clean and the final seal applied. Can't decide if we like the Matt finish or wet look.

It does look like a bomb went off at the job site. I've been busy inside and the clay mud around the house has slowed cleanup. The weather has been hovering around freezing which is making it a disgusting mess. Plus most of the scrap wood is cedar. Shame to dispose of it when i can burn it in the summer.

Made a bad call on drywall. With the icf walls it tough to nail baseboard. I should have installed a 2 inch strip of plywood to nail the baseboard to. Live and learn!
