Question for you. Do you have any issues with motor running at those extreme angles? Any oil where it shouldn't be or oil not getting to where it should?

BTW, i just spend several hours reading this. That truck is simply amazing.

Here is a picture of it next to my next project. A 2wd 2004 4Runner sport edition with the 4.7 V8. Finally got m wife to let me have it after I buy here a new Infinity G37. The price we pay for fun. :D

I was going to keep it all Toyota this time but there are no axle's from Toyota that will hang with the power and torque of the V8 and the 37" tires I plan on running.
I'll run either Currie Rock Jock 60's front and rear with ARB lockers or Dynatrac Pro Rock 60's with ARB lockers.
It'll have dual Marlin T case's with a twin stick in the rear case and twin three links front and rear. It'll be a daily driver so I'm going to keep it as lo as possible so the wife will feel comfortable driving it.

I'll have more details as I gather all of the parts and I'll have a build thread on RockSolidToys.

He's sitting on leaf springs in the front. I can't tell if hes on 35's or 37's. I do have to give him credit for doing what looks like a clean swap though. I think the Nissan can be a good platform for a SAS

I read a bit of the other thread on it and I believe he's running 37's and yea with a front leaf spring setup!

Ok. Finally got the trans temp gauge working. That was fun.

The first problem I had was I couldn't find a tee that was big enough to hold the sensor without it blocking fluid flow. I went every where and searched the internet for weeks to try and find something to no avail.

    Here is what I had.
This is the sending unit I got with the gauge. It's a VDO unit and is supposed to go into the case of the transmission but since I haven't torn into one yet I didn't want to drill into and hit something vital so I wanted to put it in the out line of the transmission going into the radiator. Simple enough right? We'll see.
    DSC00740640x480_e1519509169e7adb92a96812a044cd7060dd61de.jpg

So this is what I ad at first but as you can see the tee is too small for the sending unit.
    DSC00741640x480_45a9be92263e422ce3622666e4fa43ecada577ea.jpg

After I tried that for awhile, i went to a different tee with a bushing but the bushing was still too small and the sender would just bottom out on the tee.
    DSC00742640x480_a10b63182e53d9935263ee6fe4cd92fbc26e7dff.jpg
    DSC00743640x480_264e42d50232cc0cf0e578b3380b7005a3075c93.jpg

So I searched and searched for a longer bushing but no one made one. I looked for over a week but no go.
So I made my own. I found a male threaded union that I milled down and then tapped it with an 1/8" npt and it works like a charm.
    DSC00744640x480_44f6b3b778b05f18c517a48a31ec0ada177b892f.jpg

    DSC00746640x480_a8efc19ef5d17bf1d3d68f106c8545998adb7c88.jpg
Then I put it in line and set all my parameters on the gauge, turned the key and it wouldn't work.
Found out that the sending unit is grounded through the threads of the sending unit so I took a wire and soildered it to the bushing I made and then grounded it to the body of the truck and now it works.

Whew!!! Got it done so now I can see just how hot my tranny is getting. Some times ignorance is bliss I'm sure.[IMG]
