Just bought a 2010 Tacoma, Timberland Pyca, quad cab, short bed. This is my first truck and I will be using it to commute to NYC. I am thinking about buying a bull bar to protect my front bumper against any parallel parking type dings and dents. Is the bull bar considered a legit mod or an unnecessary addition. Just wondrin' what you guys think.

If you think it will help protect the Tacoma for your situation then go for it - many here are against bull bars, but if it works for you then that's all that matters.

Is there any bulls in your area? It's your truck, you want to keep it as new as possible,if it helps you out,do it! I'm not a fan because most don't really do anything but dent and bend pretty easy.

Camper top with racks, Custom fogs behind lower bumper. Interior LED lighting, Rock Lights, Hella 500s with upraged bulbs behind black billet grill, AAL, Front 5100s
Get the bar that Avid Offroad makes, that actually protects the corners of the bumper.

Is it going to prevent total damage to front end - no

But will it prevent minor damage, parking lot taps, etc - yes

my last one saved my ass twice, once with a nissan and once with a deer.
Both times just pulled the bull bar back into place
the nissan went to the body shop, the deer never left the road.

I love mine, I doubt it would withstand a lot, but I have seen that they can certainly prevent some damage, a few people have hit deers with them, and had minor damage, in cases where there would seem to be more damage..
I have mine for looks more than anything, but i do feel it would offer some protection...

I bought the Aires brand bull bar. I thought the Westin brand couldn't be that much better for being $100+ more for a similar item. My 2 cents on the matter is that I also find them to be cheaply made. If I could do it all over again, I would go the Allpro brand route. Their products look like the real deal and I like the way their bar covers the entire front of the bumper, giving you better protection. They have sales from time to time, putting their products in the price range of more well-known, but inferior quality items. It's just one of those things....the more time you spend on this forum, the better the purchases you will end up making for your ride. Guys on here have walked the path and have a very valid point on just about anything. I've yet to be steered wrong.
