I assume you're talking about the Westin bull bar or something along those lines. Those aren't "true" bull bars IMO. More like nudge bars. Bull bars replace the stock bumper with a steel plated one.

If you get a nudge bar, go with black. Chrome is for mall crawlers. But an ARB would look even sweeter.

westin bull bars are crap. if you bump anything they crumple. i killed 2 of them before i decided that i was not spending a few hundred on another one.. if you want one that is going to take any kind of abuse then arb has the bull bar. its a full replacement bumper and headlight guards

Aries bull bar works great for mounting lights on it.
If you have a lot of chrome on your truck, then get chrome.
If you have a lot of black on your truck, then get black.

The skid plate on these are just for 'looks' and maybe protects from road debris.

What color is your truck and other accessories? Its a personal like and dislike in how you wish to outfit your truck. Look at other pics and decide which way you will continue to modify.

Are Bull bars pretty strong do they add any protection? or are they just for mounting lights?

IMO, zero protection. Those bars don't do anything to protect the front. Just light mounts.

I was never a fan of bull bars, I think they are kinda ridiculous, every big redneck truck has one and they reduce your clearance. also if you look at how they mount on you can tell that they cant handle any type of pressure.

Don't think you can. "True" bull bars involve a complete replacement of the stock bumper (ARB, TJM, Shrockworks, etc). These are just nudge bars. Doubt a winch would work.

Yeah. i was kidding. I had one on my old Tacoma... if you leaned against it to do something under the hood it would flex. I would not even wanna think about standing on one, let alone hitting something.

They weren't built to take any type of pressure. They're strictly for looks and lights. If anyone buys a bull bar thinking it's suppose to protect the front end, then...they've been misled.

Although, it can protect againest road debris a little bit.

    soon to come
I hit a deer with one and the bull bar was destroyed but my truck was pretty good, it had minor dents and thhe grill was cracked but that was it. Better than having to replace almost the whole front end... It was a westin and you should go with black
