    Thoughts:
    I ride with two other guys. We share a hitch mounted winch. It stays clean and dry 99.9% of the time and stowed. It also can be used in the rear receiver or the front, actually it is common for a front ditching to pull back.

    Edit: oh and I always carry my HiLift which while slow has never failed me.
