Have a 2004 Tacoma, new to me. All of my lights work EXCEPT the front bumper parking lights. I checked the bulbs and they are dual filament, Haynes schematic says they are supposed to be dual filament BUT the factory socket is only 2 wire not 3. There is no grounding on the light assembly so the socket is not made for a turn signal/parking light bulb. Has anyone seen this? Or am I being stupid and missing something?

The lights on the bumper are turn signals. Your parking lights are next to the headlights (Unless you did the blinker relocation mod)

From the factory the lower bumper lights are set up to be turn signals only, despite the dual filaments. The parking lights are the small corner lights next to the headlights.

You can easily make them parking lights as well by running a wire from the corner light down to the third connector receptacle. That way they turn on with the corner lights, and still blink brighter for turn signals. I'm sure there's a write-up somewhere, but I can't find it at the moment. Did it years ago with zero issues.

That's very interesting, think I will connect to the corner lights.

I added another wire to the socket to get both lights working, then had switchbacks.

However, keep in mind the 3157 bulbs that are in it are standard and will blow the fuse if you don't buy CK style 3157. the socket uses the ground on the same side (CK) as opposed to grounds on both sides (normal).

No, write up. But I'm willing to help you out. As mentioned on the video. Mtucker is the reason I took on this project . His write up is on the below link . I basically followed his write up but used V-Leds V-tritons! The new v-tritons are much brighter and have a much smaller round blub, by filing down the housing socket slots on the corners the bulbs fit great. I also have my rear brakes and turn signal with v-tritons, but also had to chisel out the openings to make the bulb fit. I also deviated from mtucker write up a bit by wiring the Tritons direct, I removed the original toyota sockets and used the tritons harness direct. I also do not have any led resistors, I installed a LED blub electronic flasher. Makes a much cleaner job. Funny, V-leds emailed me saying this project could not be done.:brianr: I should post thier email asking me to send blubs back! The site allows you to buy the blubs for 2004 tacoma, but without chiseling out the socket housing they will not fit. You first must understand mtucker write up and than I can help you out further. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...g-lights-with-switchback-leds-a-how-to.85986/
