Welp found this when I walked out of my door this morning - any slim chance i'm meeting my deductible or should i go ahead and order an aluminum bumper like I had planned? Grill has a nice gash across it as well.

That is likely more than $1000 or more in damage. I got my bumper cover and grill support and it was like $3500 in damages.

I seriously doubt you are near $1000. You are over 2 years old so the estimate won't be for new parts. Aftermarket parts drive the price way down. Even if you were at $1200-1500 you would be foolish to file a claim that will next you $200-500.

Yeah the concern is the piece that goes all the way up to the headlights is cracked - so i feel like that cant be cheap. Since it wasn't my fault insurance claims that if i do decide to claim it, it doesn't impact my insurance record at all. Not sure - have an appointment with a body shop this week. Wonder if insurance would find it weird if my "body shop" was my local 4x4 shop haha

Only way to surely find out is talk to your insurance or reputable shop.

This. Also keep in mind that an insurance claim would show up on carfax. If you replace it with a steel bumper, you're out maybe a couple hundred bucks over the deductible and you'll make it up on the backside if you ever sell it.

    Like, so many.
I'd just use this as an opportunity to get an aftermarket bumper.

Just order a new bumper. Unless your insurance company is willing to put in writing that there will be no impact to your policy I wouldn’t chance it.

    This.
Wish I knew this before I filed some claims. I lost $4k off the value of my truck because I thought I was being smart, fixing it myself, and pockets the couple hundred remainder.
Somethings you just gotta learn the hard way

You'd have to get the DV8 or Body Armor that's readily available.

Thanks for the input everyone - i'll see what the body shop has to say (any structural damage etc) - all seems to depend on the dollar value they come back with.

If your car value is impacted due to the collision - doesn't insurance generally compensate you for that?
