I just received an email from Bushwacker that confirmed that they have pocket flares available for the short bed dbl. cab Tacomas. Part# 31925-02
The long bed version is Part# 31920-02. I've checked all 4by websites that I know of and they only show Part# 31920-02 for the long bed. It clearly states on Bushwackers website that Part# 31925-02 will fit the short bed version o the dbl. cab.

I think they're supposed to add 1.5 to 1.75 inches of extra coverage.

that wouldnt be bad, but i didnt see that anywhere in the descrpition for the taco or the generic for the flare type

EDIT: nvm...found it...1 3/4", but thats from the metal..not the width over the stock flares

Actually by my calculations they would add 1/4" additional coverage over the stock flares.

Well I'm not 100% sure about this?
But BW states that it gives an additional 1 3/4" to your truck.

It isn't clear if they mean 1 3/4" more than the stock flares or 1 3/4" from bare fender.
The stock flares gives 1.5" more coverage than the bare fender.

So I believe that it will only net about .25" over the factory flares.

But again I'm not sure? I will be ordering a set and testing them out, if that part # is true.

ditto...i'd even say 1/2 to 3/4" and i'd be over it. cover up the 285's some more

if u go to their site and look it up, it says they are 1 3/4" but click for more details. the diagram then shows they extend 1 3/4" from the metal out and thats where they get their measurements. well u give us the verdict when ya get em:D

yeah I know, I've seen that. That's why I think it will only give an extra 1/4". My stock flares extend 1.5" from the metal out.
So $400+ may not be worth it?

if its only 1/4" then i'd lean towards not worth it....unless the main want for them is different design than stock. i'd much rather have some that look like stock but stick out more

Hey go to Truckaddons.com and you will find them for the Double Cab short bed models for $399 shipped because they are having a sale or something. I was really pissed because it took them so long for them to come out for the short beds but I am thinking of getting a set. Only problem is they don't come color matched and I don't trust anyone in the town I live in to paint them. I don't want to take a spray can to those you know?

I bolted my OEM on for less than $80.00 with 1/4"x2" SS round hex bolts and 1/4" SS finishing washers.

I removed my flares to test for rub on my 33x12.50 and some of the tabs inside the flares broke off, even thou I used a bondo spreader to pop them out.

Then I found that all of the clips holding the flare were one time use only and the dealer wanted $3.00 and $2.00 for each clip so I epoxied the broken tabs on the back of the flare and drilled holes through the flare in the same location the OEM clips were so now the flares are bolted in the same location as the OEM clips thus no need to drill the fender.

SS hardware cost me +/- the same as the OEM clips and now I can remove them whenever I want.

I also used 1/4" clear tubing as a spacer so the bolts never touch and scratch the paint in the fender holes.

Bonus is I got the Bolt-on look that I wanted so much :cool:
