Buyer Beware: KTJO 4X4 Driver's Side Grab Handles w/ A Pillars, HUD, and Bowl Lights

Saying the name KTJO 4x4 keeps this thread relevant on the search sites.

 

I hear ya. But to me it’s kinda like the residents of fictional Dog River SK speaking the name of their rival town “Woolerton”. Any time they’d say the name they would have to spit. Funny as hell (in a Canuck way).

So here goes: KTJO4x4

 

I didn't even get a pen....or the pictures she promised of where the HUD unit would display on the windshield so I could see if it projected above the required PA inspection/emissions/Class Truck stickers, or the correct color bowl lights she claimed she was sending me.....and still I got sucked into the grab handle.

Once again, I am pulled back from the abyss

 

I enjoy when folks spit in disgust of others. I shall do that every time I type KTJO 4x4. Pit-tuie!

Since I have this thread on watch I get a notification when there's a reply. And every single time I tell myself that "but she makes cool shit!" as I have a BNIB grab handle and HUD that don't work.

 

Same. I can't let it go, yet.

The continued shit-tastic performance justifies it.

 

I wonder what the next pre-order item is going to be? Worth watching for the “Catch 22” type shits & giggles of

I've not been burned thanks to the myriad of warnings by example here on TW. For that, I am eternally grateful. But still, the wretched Siren-song beckons so strongly but I lash myself to the Pro Grill and continue on my path toward MesoLand.

And, folks have been sucking up the cost of the OEM TG Lock Harness, which wasn't much more expensive than the KTJO 4x4 version.

 

Butbutbut...how cool would a HUD be in your truck?! And in some trucks it is actually functional!

 

Having had the KTJO4x4 version and the OEM version in my possession at the same time... I can unequivocally say that the OEM version is better quality and better thought out than the KTJO4x4 version... in all categories.

 

I did buy the OEM version because of this thread. If there was another option for a HUD I would be looking there too. However I put in my pre-order for the grab handle and HUD together so here I am.

 

I bought a PopnLock instead. Painless install and it's working beautifully. My understanding is it's identical to the OEM? I never attempted a real life comparison.

I think the OEM and KTJO 4x4 come with the special plastic grommets for the harness passthroughs? I know that @Bertw192 said that the OEM one has some exhaust shielding. Likely other build features as well.

 

The KTJO4x4 didn't originally come with a tailgate grommet. That was later added, when enough people expressed concern about drilling holes to make room in the factory grommet.

Here's a quick comparison:

• OEM has grommet
  • KTJO4x4 later added one
• OEM has heat wrap for section near exhaust
• OEM has metal zip ties for section near the exhaust
• OEM has full corrugated plastic conduit
  • KTJO4x4 has thin nylon conduit (I actually prefer this version of protection)
• OEM has a connector at tailgate, like the camera, to allow tailgate removal
• OEM has a pre-installed grommet where the cable passes through the truck floor into the cab
  • KTJO4x4 requires stuffing wires through occupied grommet
• OEM has an inline fuse near the connection to the truck's electrical system
• OEM has clear plug n' play instructions that details the install down to the very specific zip tie placement
• KTJO4x4 has a better solenoid mounting bracket (although I've not hear of any failures of the OEM kit)
• KTJO4x4 has had numerous solenoid failures

I can’t believe this thread is still going. I’m even more surprised people still support KTJO4x4.

Although I still use the grab handle every time I get in the truck with zero issues.

 

Who makes this? I have one from , but don't know if it's safe to install.
