I think that’s is exactly the case. Hates everything until a bunch of people say it looks good. Like a woman that tells her bf she looks fat, needing him to tell her how good she looks instead.

Insurance gave me 18k for my 08’ with 117k miles on it. They are amazing at holding value. My wife’s 08’ Acura only books for 7k and we bought both new for almost the same price.

3rd Gen is tad faster than 2nd Gen 0-60, much faster passing times, better tech. 2nd has bit more torque at lower rpm off the line about where it ends.
3rd gen 18% more hp which is a blast at the higher rpm. Engine has no posts about failures nor does tranny just whining by some.
So why buy an old 2nd ?
I dumped the 2nd and never looked back.

I absolutely agree that Tacomas hold their value almost like nothing else, but that truck is not selling for 24K. It's for sale at 24K at a dealership.

Not a dealership but a car lot. I know they always leave some room for negotiating but even selling for $22K would be impressive to me with those miles.

I just bought a 19 DCSR. I LOVE IT! Is it low on performance? Yes. Does it have ALL the bells and whistles? NO. However, I don't need all the bells and whistles and I don't have to be first off at the red lights. It is new and I am very grateful and thankful to have it. It has everything I need and it gets pretty good MPG. I don't even use the ECT for daily driving, it has enough power to stay with the traffic flow so I'm good. I would say just give it some time and take it for what it is. Life is short, enjoy your truck.

Replacing everything worn, broken, and rusted.
Every vehicle has it's issues. 2nd gens aren't flawless either. But enjoy the good points and don't overanalyze it. I wish I had a 2018 and not a blown head gasket. You win some and you lose some. And the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

Problem is with truck sales all across the board so high, ford Chevy gm etc, there are so many trucks now, everyone is buying them. Supply and demand principles will affect this "trucks hold value" situation. It will not last. It will not be like old times soon.

This sell and get a 2nd Gen.

If you don’t like how the 3rd Gen drives... its not going to magically get better.

Not in MT, have always had great truck sales and the Tacoma is one of the best for resale. It’s all dependent to where you are.

You wouldn’t believe how nice the new 1.05 OVTune is. My mpg commuting in the city this morning was 18.5 and I’m lifted with armor and 32” tires. My truck weighs 6000lbs but feels 1000lbs lighter

    Step 1: Have a son
    Step 2: Get a dog
Step 3: Drive like a madman in some mud and through forest roads to find a badass camping spot, then camp out and go offroading and exploring for a few days.
You will love the truck if you use it for what its made for.
