...do not care if the mods move this, just wanted to get a lot of traffic in as short a period of time as possible.

Buying a 2012 4Runner Trail (trading in wife's Jeep). Final price on the 4Runner all by itself not including tade in is 39,589. MSRP is 41900.

    1. Is this a good deal?
    2. Would you put any money down if the interest was 1.9% and you knew you would not keep it longer than 3 years?

If you know you are not going to keep it for more than 3 years lease it...you might have to put 2-3K down, but the payments would be dirt cheap. No sense in putting a huge monthly payment in something you knw your going to get rid of.

I know you say it is more expensive but give this a shot. It may be more helpful than you think.

Will probably keep the Trail longer than 3 years but I like to car shop sometimes and wanted to have the option to trade and not be head over heels. Trail is not really needed but will give me good resale if necessary.

Thats a good question. The Trail package is something that probably not many people get. A lot of people do not like the black bumpers so the resale value might not be as high as an SR5...just a thought.

It is dark gray so that may be a mute point. Plus the interior seat fabric looks much better and it has the Limited dash (floating gauges). Plus KDSS and Entune with navigation.

Trail is basically just 4wd, a locker, a scoop, waterproof seats, and a Limited dash. Only model that you can get KDSS on though.

I am also on a 4Runner forum and many of the guys over there really like the Trails. I would not buy a 5th Gen. unless it was a trail. Too much chrome. One member even turned his Limited into a Trail.

    BUY IT!

    Uh what?

Getting the SR5 then doing the upgrades would almost be as expensive. Definitely so if you add a air locker and compressor. KDSS a con if you upgrade the suspension? On the contrary it will make it better. You can upgrade the suspension and still maintain the effectiveness of the KDSS. All KDSS does is hydraulically actuate the sway bar for increased travel (read disconnect. Get the rig off the ground, remove tires, strap the sway bar to a fixed point so it doesn't move, disconnect UCA, remove old coilover, add new coil over, reattach UCA, remove strap from sway bar and drive off.

Take a look here to see how KDSS works.

The 4Runner is built on the Prado 150 frame. What you see in the video's is essentially the 4Runner Trail Edition's KDSS at work.

I put 18,000 down on mine and it was a demo, basically the boss of the dealership drove it for 5200 miles I got it for 36,000 out the door. It also depends on what options you get I don't have the JBL package, or heated seats which was the only other things I wanted. Don't be afraid to play hardball and you have to be willing to walk away.

The trail is def nice and KDSS is a plus but the price seems a bit steep, prolly could get a Limited (and all the goodies that come with it) for close to that price. will you be doing alot of offroading?

Best of luck with whichever you choose.:D

Are you ordering this, or are they on the lot already? I am in Denver and test drove a 2011 Trail this weekend, but they said that the 2012's won't be here until Feb. - March.

There are a couple here in Atlanta, so I'd expect them in your area at any point now. You will probably get a lot more of them than we would. Could be your dealer doesn't have an allotment yet of 2012, or they're just staying that because they have 2011's they want to sell.

They are hard to find and keep a little bit better trade in value. We are on our third 4runner and by far the new trail model is the badest one weve had! Pull the trigger![IMG]
