    My only issue with the armalite pattern AR10 is that you are limited in magazine choices. I'm just a fan of the pmags I guess.

    See I didn't know it was that small a loss in velocity between the two lengths. I also thought the longer barrel gave the bullet more stability as well. You will never see a 16" .308 bolt gun labeled as "sufficient", you will most likely never see a 16" .308 bolt gun, period. I understand that the two gun types have two different missions, but there is a reason why a bolt gun has as long a barrel as they do.

    If you buy a .308 that uses the FN mags they are very plentiful and cheap.
