My 15 Taco Off-Road came with a spacer lift so it sat at 2.5" I really like the height looks nice and height was good for offroad use. Ride was ok. I can't compare to stock because the lift was on when I purchased the truck. I do know it was stiffer than the 17 Taco Sport I test drove a few times.

I did just recently swap to a set of Icon Stage3. It was a little overkill from what I was going to buy, but it was pretty good black Friday deal and I went with it. I looked at a lot of choices read on different forums and wanted the OME BP-51s but I could not take that price tag. I was looking at the Bilstiens and OME combo but the black friday sale got me to jump (was only a few hundred more that what I was eyeing). At the end of the day you have to like the ride and the equipment. So research before you by, do some offroad adventures and talk to people. (some may even let you ride (or drive) along to get a feel.)

So far I do like my ride better, but I have only had a few hundred miles of butt time since the change. I have yet to really do any pushing it off-road because the install is still only a few weeks old and I have not had a chance to really get out.

If I can get my way I'd go with Icons... maybe I just wait and save and hope something good comes along next November. How much did you pay for the Stage 3 kit?

I am sure someone around Boulder would help you install a lift off of this site....I would trust almost anyone on this site before any dealership....

    DCSB... No mods here
Don't pay the dealer to put a block of metal in. Select a lift that will be functional.

It was just over $2200. I'll have to find my receipts for the exact amount. It took them 8 weeks to ship. I think the Performance Bilstien kit I was saving for was about $2000 but it had the full leaf pack rather than the AAL in the Icon kit.

I’d consider another dealership, lift or no lift. Scanning their website ads, it looks like they practice some kind of new math. Since when does $39459 + $599 = $47522 ??? Maybe the 2” lift is achieved by putting 80psi in the tires.

Yup. Colorado is priced higher than your avg market. You would be better ordering and just having I'd delivered to save the stealership fees (like those shown in the ad)

LOL, wow that is some "new maths"... the quote I got on the Taco when I went in is pretty comparable to all of the "what did you pay" prices I've seen on the site, just over $35k for the base with auto. I'm flipping back and forth on if I want to drop the price further by looking for a stick.

The price I'm quoted so far is fair, comparable to what I've seen from many others here... that being said, Boulder county is a seller's market for both Jeeps and Tacos.

An advantage to the dealer installed lift might be enhanced warranty coverage. In fact, I would ask them to put it in writing that they will warranty anything potentially related to lift issues under the OEM 5/60 power train warranty or the term of any extended warranty you purchase.

BTW...my local dealer has been taking 4Runner ORs and lifting them and throwing on TRD wheels. The suspension mods are covered by the 5/60 PT warranty. They sell them like McDonalds does Big Macs...as fast as they can pop them out. Very popular.

And not all dealer work is bad. That's just the cool thing to say here on TW. Just ask some questions....what type of lift, who will be doing it, in house, out sourced, tech have experience, what's the warranty coverage?

You make a good point, one I had forgotten about in my current vehicle. I've second guessed some of my own modifications (though everything is fine) so that's some nice peace of mind. I don't want to buy another vehicle for at least another 10 years so... might as well get this one as good as I can while staying under warranty.

I vote for choosing your own lift and tires/wheels. There is very little to gain and a whole lot to lose by having the dealer provide it...

If the dealer installs a lift that includes replacing shocks and springs are they giving you the stock take off parts? Plenty of people are willing to buy the stock OR suspension components to upgrade Sport, SR5 and SR suspensions so you can recoup some of the cost of the new suspension.
