I am hearing a buzzing sound from the front right side, around my passenger seat in my 05’ taco with a 2.7 and manual trans. I first hear it around 1800 RPMs, and it stops by 2100 RPMs. I hear it in most gears, but mainly in the first three gears. Could it be the heat sheild on the cats, or something with the trans?

    thanks for the help.

Sounds like heat shields to me. Have a quick look under there- the heat shields are just glorified tin foil. Over time, they fatigue at the rivets and droop. It barely has to touch the exhaust pipe to transfer the racket inside the cab. Usually, you can just bend them back

If I remove the heat sheild, will it cause any other problems?

In extremely hot weather, you may feel some heat transfer through the floor. The a.c. can easily take care of that issue.
