WEll...Its pretty well known they cant tow like the Tacoma, or have anywhere near the bed capacity. I understand they are much quicker, faster, and can corner better, but they are crap off road.

Basically look over the car with a keen eye I've got a c3 and its got its problems, basically check the bushings and body mounts and check for rust one good test is to check the metal frame cover at the end of the channel right in front of the wheel, take a screwdriver and poke it.. if it goes through then that's definitely a good indicator of a bad frame. And make sure the interior is in decent condition cause replacing the interior is expensive as hell.. overall just keep in mind that the car is over 40 years old and its not going to be perfect but don't buy one if its going to be more trouble than its worth. Especially the rust issue cause I have several seized bolts on my suspension and I've got to replace a lot of parts on it

Yeah and broken tach and speedo = biggest pain in the ass and those two parts are super exspensive.. I think they build them pretty cheap cause my speedo is broken too. Just do your research the car is a blast to drive and definitely a head turner but make sure it isn't just a big money drain

I don't know about where you are, but my dad has a '73 that we started restoring a while back for me to drive but when we talked to our insurance agent, they told us that I couldn't be insured on it till I was 25.

Are you guys serious on the insurance? I've been insured as the primary driver on my Mustang ('65) since I was 15, and it's $10 a month for full coverage for $25,000 with a $500 deductible. Try talking to your insurance companies, because you're getting raped.

OP, my neighbor is a Corvette maniac. He had a '61, '82 (C3), and '93 (sold them all to buy a 2007 convertible). He always said that the '82 was the wild card of the 3. When it ran good, it was a blast. But it did require the most nickel-and-diming of them all, and he had the least attachment to it of the 3 when he sold it.

Well it must be something specifically in my area because my dad told me that he went through the same thing. He bought the car when he was 24 and wasn't able to drive it, for a couple months, till he turned 25.

Man, that sucks. You don't think it was because when he bought it, it wasn't yet considered a "classic" do you?

Phoenix is a big city so of course insurance wouldn't want some punk ass kid driving a vette around town but its not like they told me I couldn't because I have a valid license and I own the car but since its the law to be insured here they kinda tell me uunless I'm rich I can't drive... its a 40 year old car cut me some effin slack... I hate insurance.

He told me why but I can't remember. I wanna say it was because it is a corvette and insurance would be so high that they just don't insure people under 25. I know thats why they wouldn't insure me, plus it didn't help that it is an antique and at the time I was only 16. I haven't asked about it in a long time. They might have changed the policy because c3's aren't worth much anymore, but you never know.
