$775 that's a dam good deal. Looks to be similar mounting set up to mine I got from Timbo(based of the USOffroad design)? I'm still not completely sold on the mounting set up on any of those types. I plan on doing some frame modifications on my frame before I'd do any real heavy double line pulls or hard angle pulls. Maybe I'm paranoid it just looks like the frame there isn't all that strong.

It's funny cause I was looking to get the us offroad one, but I just didn't like that huge gap, and you couldn't use a light bar just pods. I chose this cause how it goes with the body of the bumper and looks a little stock.

But I'm not to worried around pulls or anything right now until I get a winch. But as far as the frame goes, it replaces your weak aluminum crush bar. So it's damn there's sturdy if I hit something with 65lbs of steel compared to the 15 lbs of aluminum

My concern is not crushing the front or hitting something, its pulling it off the front of the truck during heavy winching.

Look at it this way, I have a 9000lb winch add a snatch block to that and with all the cable spooled out that's 18,000 pounds of pull. Would I ever have to pull a load like that? Not likely but I'd like to know I could, but with the way these type of winch mounts are mounted to the frame I don't believe it would hold without tearing it off the front of the truck.

I went with the Harbor Freight. $239 + $50 for an extended no questions warranty. I don't use them much, but have it for one of those "oh crap" moments.

I'm a bit curious is there a spot on top of that mount to get to the top of the winch to access the control plug in? Most (if not all) winches seem to have the control box on the top of the winch. Can you post a pic of the top?

Don't these low profile winch mounts all mount just like every plate bumper out there for the Tacoma? Remove old crash bar and mount to existing studs right?

The only thing I've even seen the fabricators/vendors out there do to reinforce is add some extra side brackets that tie further back into the frame, which I know Relentless does I'm not sure about who else.

Yes that's what it looks like, if you look at the metal and welding on the front it's more designed to hold bumper parts on and not designed to hold up to stresses from a winch. The metal is pretty thin walled and isn't much more then just welded to the end cap of the frame. I'm unfamiliar with what Relentless does I'll have to look that up. All in all I'm just going to add some more bracing to the sides of the frame.

I just looked up Relentless, yes that's exactly what I'm talking about. So I'm not alone in my concerns. Someone made parts for it.

Damn 290 for a winch? How's it holding up so far? That seems like a deal!

No Holes or openings on top, they have two holes one on each side on the winch to fit your hand in there to fumble with your winch.

Yeah that's what I thought, just replace the crush bar and use factory studs but I don't own or never did a full plate bumper so I can't speak if they do or not. And these guys make some reinforcement brackets too but I think it's for there full bumper

Probably do, if not I'll drive or get it shipped to me and I'll drop it off at the border. I'm in North Dakota, near Winnipeg is the big city above me I think

I haven't used it for any serious pulls yet other than pulling my mower out of the pond a couple times. As far as holding up,they're all Chinese made junk so to speak unless you want to spend big $$ on a Warn. That's why I went with HF good enough for what I need it for and if it breaks I just take it back and get another instead of sending it off somewhere to be repaired. So let me ask this, if there is no holes in the top how would you get to the control box to hook the hand held controller to it?

I guess you could reach up through those side holes to connect the controller.
