A quick story... beiing a disabled combat vet, military brat, brother serving. my son in Afganistan and once an avid hunter guns have always been a part of my life.

I bought a gun in NV and had to have it sent to a dealer in CA. Went through all the paperwork had gun in hand and ready to leave the dealer when he noticed I was driving a "station wagon", which means I didn't have a trunk to transport my new pistol. Blah blah blah... he turned a blind eye and let me go.... WTF.... Left Coast.

This is awesome! Because I just got back from work, the ball game, the burger joint and the grocery store all with my unloaded P226 locked in the truck! And nothing happened! Just like yesterday! And the day before that! And the 6 months before that! And the 2 years before that!

    I love....statistical stability!

Criminals and gang bangers rejoice! No need to wonder if the law abiding citizen is armed. He/She isn't. Take his wallet, car, household possessions, and life. Kill his family. California doesn't care about letting you defend yourself.

You're the one who stated you dont carry off duty because you wouldnt want someone taking it if you were unconscious bc of a wreck. Who the fuck would steal a gun from an accident scene?

As far as the name calling, I apologize...i have respect for everyone in the law enforcement community. The point I was trying to get across was you should carry off duty. We are on duty 24/7, 365. Thats the mentality you have to have. LEO/military see a different side of people, the evil side. U and I both know there are bad people in the world. No one knows when that bad will come, but when it does, we all should be ready. I'll use the 4 officers who were killed in Tacoma, WA while sitting in a coffee shop as an example. Lets say that happened in your town....your off duty, minding your business, then a psycho walks in and shoots 4 cops. What are you gonna do? Walk up behind him and karate chop him in the neck? You cant shoot him bc your unarmed...not prepared. Are you gonna hide under a table and call the police after he leaves and risk him walking outside and shooting more innocent people? Your a cop, you've gotta do something. All I am saying is you never know when sugar is gonna turn to shit. So you must be prepared when shit like this happens.....because it does. Even in crime-free Canada.

Canada has its own unique set of crimes, and crime distribution.....In 2002, there were 92590 drug offences, per 100,000 people. They rank 4th in car thefts, 5th in assaults, 3rd in drug offenses, and 5th in rapes per capita....Hardly a country I would view as a safer palce than the US....

To put that in perspective....Thats 92% more assaut victims than the US has, 26% more car theft, 164 times more drug offenses, and 100% more rape victims.
