I've got 4,000 miles on mine, and cabin noise has gotten considerably higher with miles. When it was new, it was super quiet. Now, it's much more road noise. My guess is that the gaskets/foam/seals that they use to isolate the cab quickly wear down. My wife drives a 2014 highlander, and it was the exact same way. Lack of road noise was a huge selling point for her, and sadly, now it is just as noisy as the chevy and honda that she was comparing it to.

Me too between 35-45 there is a 440Hz +/- 5hz tone that does not change with anything but speed. Definitely harmonic turbulence. Dealer confirmed it and drove another new Tacoma that had it..... and drew up a service ticket for Toyota engineering, My Sport has it. It's not loud but it is something that has a very acute pitch and stays there at certain speeds.

OK.. I rode in the back seat while the wife drove and the noise is definetly coming in those 2 vents behind the rear seat... I could hear the gravel crunching under the tires at low speed and at HWY. speed, just road and wind noise.

Then I drove another TRD sport today... same noise from the same place...... Salesman says..."see that's the way they all are"... Of course he can't really hear the noise...(he owns a F150)...he's used to noise and rattles.

I'm pulling the rear cover off the back wall tomorrow and get a visual on those vents... I'll find the problem....I'll take pics for the dealer to see if I see a problem...

Will up dare ya'll.... We'll see if I'm crazy or not..

Where do you hear the noise though when driving? Is it just wind noise or is it a whistling sound? It sounds like it's on the left side of the truck... Not behind the seats.

Using a calibrated sound meter in my truck , no wind and driving at highway speeds 65 mph , the sound meter reads between 70 and 75 decibels in my 2010 .
I tried this before i sound deadened my truck . Now that I have the deadening in the doors, roof , floor and rear of the cab , the meter reads approx 10 decibels less . Even with the sound deadening , most of the noise comes from the back of the cab . Thought I would throw this out there for an FYI

OP, you probably hear the power steering leaking or the oil pressure dropping.

I'd agree that, that's what they are SUPPOSED to do; however, if they are stuck open, or some lame-ass did not put the flaps on, then I get road noise and wind noise all the time...

I think this is the issue with mine....

The noise is clearly coming in those vents... there is NO doubt there.!! Not the weather stripping....

Sounds like you have a totally different issue... this is NOT whistling like a door seal.

My noise IS coming thru those vents.

The other thread was hosed by trolls who don't own or want to own the truck....Had to put all of them on ignore. If they don't own or plan to own their opinions are of no help and muck up the threads..

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ith-toyota-tech-re-pitched-tone-35-55.397358/

Looks like MODs cleaned it up. I updated the thread with the sound and frequency,

I am thinking driveshaft as it comes and goes with changes in the road surface. bumps and imperfections. If it is the drive shaft ....Good luck getting Toyota to replace them UNLESS they get a lot of complaints.

You should ask for the last six of the VIN as well. Maybe its a certain run on the line. I sent you my VIN.

Good idea Sent my VIN 3T.......GM003168 and info....I think I was the first to hear this issue. I am glad others have it as well. Toyota prided themselves on how quiet this truck is.No one should accept this as "they all have it" Clearly they don't

Monday I am taking a friend to Charleston to look at some Lexus' I will ride in the bed for a mile and see if I can hear the noise coming from the driveshaft/rear end.

Are you gonna update this thread or another with the results? I'll send my information sometime this week.
