Go search for something like' cheap mods' and you will see where folks take a home HVAC filter (16x20x1) and cut into 4 filters. I think the dimensions are 8x7.75x1 and use duct tape to create a frame edge from where it's missing.

When I bought my truck 6 years ago, it did not have a cabin filter. Still does not have a filter.

05's didn't have filters and not sure why one wouldn't install one. After seeing what they catch, I inspect and replace a couple times a year.

Bilstein 5100's on all four corners. Front set @ 0 with OME 883x coils. Alcon leaf springs. Viper Alarm. Wet Okole seat covers. WeatherTech Floor liners front and back. Oem Toyota chrome exhaust tip. ARE Shell. America Outlaw Wheels.
RockAuto has a pretty good selection all price range. That were I get mine from. I run the Deso brand and I'm giving like $ 5.99 a piese for them.

Same one I use after a couple of people on here recommended them; I think I ordered like six of them from Rockauto last time I was buying something else. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/toyota,2005,tacoma,4.0l+v6,1431544,heat+&+air+conditioning,cabin+air+filter,6832 They're $3.38 but you have to pay S&H. I change them after each pollen season and couldn't tell a difference between them and the extremely overpriced Toyota filter. Never had cabin filters on my other vehicles and I drive with the windows open a lot so not that big of deal; I primarily like that they keep crap out of the fan.

I use the K&N, rinse it once a year with the aFe engine filter. Couldn’t be easier with those two.

I just don't see a need for them.
Every time you drive with the window down, dust gets in, every time you open a door, same thing.
It's a truck not an operating room.

Fair point, but I assumed a clean filter prolonged the life of the blower motor by allowing the air to flow? I guess you could just take it out and achieve the same goal if you don’t care about dust.

Older vehicles never had them, which makes me wonder why are they needed now? What changed ?
