I feel like the cold air intakes are a waste of money. But... if you added a throttle body spacer along with the CAI, would it make any difference???

Eventually, I would probably add an exhaust to help it breath too.

Does anyone have experience with the CAI and throttle body spacer?
I don't see how either one would really help. I think the engine would just be a little louder and more responsive.

I'm not looking for extra hp, but the mpg's would be nice.
All the threads I have read about gas mileage said buy a car if you want better mpg's

    Thoughts?

Stock air intake is a cold air intake, you will see intake temps all of ~ 2-8* above ambient at cruising speeds.

Throttle Body spacers are snake oil at this point with port injection... they wont make a god damn difference.

Now an intake manifold spacer (like the one from XTP, that goes between upper and lower intake) will do things due to increased intake runner length.

Thanks for the info. I researched the manifold spacer and someone on another forum mentioned that it does add more volume of cold dense air for a few minutes, but after the engine was warmed up it doesn't really have much benefit. I have used manifold spacers on engines with carbs to reduce heat soak. I've had heat soak so bad on air cooled VW bug it would boil the gas out of the carbs.
I'm still on the fence about performance upgrades. I'm not sure any of the performance upgrades are worth the expense. I'm just bored and have a few extra bucks in my pocket right now.

The manifold spacer for our trucks does nothing for heat soak. Its purpose is to increase intake runner length to increase air velocity

Didn’t really notice a difference , other than the throttle body making it whistle .

Pulling in air from a hot engine but isn't cold. Pulling in air from outside isn't cold (unless it's cold). You want the freshest air you can get, buy a snorkel. But that won't give you MPG either.

    Thanks for all the replies.
I decided to use that cash that was burning a hole in my pocket to buy a gently used JL Audio Stealthbox with a JL amp from craiglist for $420.00

Unfortunately with these trucks, not much you can do for MPG other than driving habits.
