Which begs the question I've always been too tepid to ask:

Why y'all named Cali Raised & have the Bear Flag Republic as your logo... when y'all are based in Texas?

Not trying to be an ass just genuine curious if there's a story there. My Texas-native grandad would've had plenty of choice words for me had I named my company "Texas Raised", used the Lone Star in my logo, yet based myself in California.

Now you have me hoping that I haven't bad mouthed the wrong company. Just to clarify, you are 100% separate and have no affiliation other than them being a dealer of yours?

Do you make the tailgate cb antenna mounts, or is that the other guys? If it was you, why didn't you respond to my inquiry when I had an issue with my cb antenna mount? If it was you, I'd like a refund here 2+ years later :boink:

Here's my experience in a nutshell:

I've written it off as a loss and have no expectation of a refund now 2+ years later. It is nice that you are responding now; but as stated in my post, I made several attempts to reach your company via TW and the phone back when I initially purchased. I did wonder if something was "off" with my specific truck, so I took calipers and measured the gap between the tailgate on both sides. For all intents and purposes, the gap was the same on both sides.

Here I was thinking you were going to say something that would restore my faith.

    upload_2022-2-18_13-32-16.jpg

Nope. Just a like and a response to someone else. I'm sorry, but not responding to emails or answering phone calls is just bad business. I know that things happen and people are busy, but this is the first time that you've responded to anything that I've posted in over 2 years.

Had a "wonderful" interaction with CaliRaised LED customer service myself...

Purchased a hidden LED lightbar along with illumination harness and daisy chain harness to wire the lightbar and some other lights to CH4x4 switches.

In the installation video on their website they show you how to wire the switch so that it lights up when you turn the light on, and turns off when you turn the light off. They state that you can make it illuminate with the dash lights (which is how I wanted it) but don't show you how to wire it that way. So I emailed them asking for help on how to wire it that way and the conversation went like this:
    _____________________________________________________________
Me: I purchased your illumination harness with a daisy chain to wire two OEM switches. Your installation video on your website shows how to wire the switches to illuminate when the switch is depressed, but how would I wire it so the switches will illuminate with the dash lights? Thanks.

CaliRaised: The normal installation should illuminate your new switches the same as your original switches. They should brighten or dim the same as your dash lights. If you have other questions, please let us know, thanks.

Me: The installation video on your website states that when wired that way, the switch will illuminate when depressed and that you have to wire it differently to illuminate and dim with the dash. How do I wire it to illuminate and dim with the dash lights?

CaliRaised: Can you send me the link to that video? I cannot find a video that says that about the install.

Me: (Wondering how they don't know how to find one of their own installation video) It is titled "How to install OEM Switch to Cali Raised LED Harness" and is the first video on your full installation list under support.

CaliRaised: That video does not cover the illumination harness with a daisy chain. That video is for our OEM style switches without the illumination harness with a daisy chain.

Me: (Starting to lose my patience because it should not be THIS difficult for them to answer questions about their own products) You're right, it doesn't. But considering that's the installation video that's included at the bottom of the page for your illumination harness and daisy chains, it's probably the closest you have. Since you apparently don't have the necessary technical knowledge to answer my question, maybe you can forward my email to someone who does. Thanks.

CaliRaised: I have answered your question, you doubted my answer. If you install the illumination harness correctly it will illuminate your switches the same as the rest of your dashboard. If you have other questions, please let us know

Me: (Debating if I need to break out crayons to draw a picture for this idiot to understand) From 3:00-3:45 in the video it states "you are able to control the backlighting to the interior lights. For this install, we are not going to do that. We are going to wire the switch so that when pressed in the will light come on and will turn off when turned off. If you want to run switch backlighting off of interior lights you will use the red wire that is closest to the black"

With the illumination harness and daisy chain, the red and black wire are already crimped and installed in the green connectors, which leaves a green and red wire on the switch side; and a Blue, White, and Black wire on the LED Harness side.

How do I connect these wires for proper function of the switch with backlighting?

CaliRaised: You will not need the black wire
    ____________________________________

Not need the black wire??? Yeah ok, because electronics don't need a ground to work? Sure. So now I completely give up on trying to get any useful information out of this guy and decided to message the CaliRaised rep on here because surely he has to be more knowledgeable and helpful, right? NOPE. That conversation went like this:
    ____________________________________
Me: The "How to install OEM Switch to LED Harness" video shows how to wire the switch to illuminate when pressed and turn off when turned off. It states that you can wire the switch to illuminate/dim with interior backlighting, but does specify how to do so.

I purchased your switch illumination harness and a daisy chain harness to avoid having to cut or splice any factory wires...the black and red wires are already pinned to the connectors for illumination which leaves a red and green wire on the switch side and Black, Blue and White wires on the harness side.

Which wires do I need to connect to get the switch to operate properly with illumination? Thanks.

    Caliraised: Hi There!

You will need to wire the RED closes to the Black and tie it in with your dash lights. You can splice or you an add a fuse.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!
    ___________________________________________

So apparently I didn't make it perfectly clear that I bought their illumination harness so I wouldn't have to splice factory wires? (Pretty sure I did)

At this point it seems everyone at this company is either unable to read or is just oblivious/incompetent and have no idea how their products work, and I decide to just figure it out on my own.

    Spend your money elsewhere!

Cali Raised Off-road (Jake Mottram - President) seems to have an attitude and not professional at all. The other day I asked Jake Mottram a question to one of his ad…

Me: Hi Jake, do you know what is the closed dimensions of the tent? If not, what’s the model and I’ll search it.

Jake Mottram: Which one are you interested in?

Me: The ikamper tent, unless you have more then one brand.

Also, can I check it out tomorrow? You’re not too far from where I’m at.

Jake Mottram: Come on by Cali Raised Offroad

    8581 Roland St Unit A
    Buena Park, CA 90621

Me: Do you have the closed dimensions? Reason I’m asking for now is because I have a rack and see if it fit or not (didn’t answer the first time asked & I just want to save myself a trip if it doesn’t fit).

Last question: the price you listed, $400 with tax too?

Jake Mottram: That is for an aioks

Me: In that case, ur ad is very misleading.

Jake Mottram: Not at all if you actually read.

But if you cant read I totally understand why you feel mislead. My 6yo would have trouble reading too.

Me: There is no where in the ad saying it’s for the aioks therefore I said it’s misleading.

But there’s no need to be unprofessional calling people can’t read and comparing to a 6yo. Lol, even the title seems like it’s for the tent.

    ——————
Man, I even told him if I misunderstood the ad, explain it to me. Later in the conversation he even said it’s not his problem if I can’t read, lol. I agree with him that it’s not his problem, but if I misread/misunderstood something, instead of explaining, he just started being unprofessional.

I had cali raised lights installed by a professional installer and they filled with water from rain. I purchased a couple replacements. Someone from cali said they would warranty them then when finding out I had purchased replacements they stopped responding to me. I consider them pretty shady. And yes we are talking about jake. Here is a vid of what happened after only one rainy season.

This is crazy. Maybe they've changed in the past couple years or so but I've purchased multiple things from Cali and never had an issue and they've always given me excellent customer service. I also have one of their 30" lightbars and its been trouble free for the past two years and I live in the wet as F#ck Pacific NW. Maybe I just got lucky.

Now that I found this thread, I'm getting a little concerned with my order with them.
I just dropped about 5k with Cali Raised Offroad for the RLD cap...
    Hopefully, everything goes smoothly.
