actually, for this one, I dont know how may people have heard about it and gone through it for arguments (aka: no one that I know has pointed out that this guy had no resistance coming and going a few times). If I add that to my argument it will jus be better.

ya....that will be the day, when citizens (read subjects or sheeple) think or themselves, it will be a major change for the better.

I agree with you on the beach thing, almost. It just depends what I am doing on the beach if I am there to swim, surf or whatever I won't have one. If I am there to fish, lounge on the sand, etc....I will have one.

I knew/know a guy who when he is bass fishing and wants to carry, he carries a cheaper (risk of falling in water) .22 magnum with a folding handle that is clipped to a pocket like a knife. Only time he has used it was dealing with a gator I think (something about a gator grabbing a crank bait or something)

a lot of times a fanny pack can point you out as carrying. I know that there is a gun shop near me that if someone walks in with a fanny pack on, they will just up and tell them to take the carry gun out to the car. (no guns allowed in the shop unless previous permission is given for either selling or holster fit type thing). I actually get no guns in a gun shop, more from a business perspective though. things like that's the one I brought in, not this one.

and honestly, when I start carrying, the first place that I won't carry because I feel relatively safe is a gun shop, since most of the counter guys carry lol

oh ya, I forgot to mention, the protest is going well. we just make sure its obviously empty. i've had a few people ask me about it. one guy from NYC asked me about it, I told him flat out what why etc...

he then proceeded to tell me that he doesn't believe in it. but also told me that the reason he didn't understand it as such was because he was raised in NYC. I think that I could actually convince him that concealed carry by permit holders would be a good thing. first person I have found that is adamantly against it that I believe I could convert.

iirc there was a CC holder during the Gabby Giffords shooting in AZ. He said something along the lines of not wanting to get involved in the shooting and be mistaken for the bad guy.

    Every situation is different.

yep, I have talked with him a few times about it, but for the most part he thinks it is a bad idea, mainly because he thinks it will up gang violence. From what he was saying, apparently according to him, NYC banned guns and it prevented a gang war. I dont know if I believe him, since if they want guns it won't matter to them how they are gotten.

on the other hand, he wants me to teach him to shoot the correct way (i was taught by NRA pistol coach and retired marine). I told him sure, though he is learning on a .22 since I dont want to bring my other guns to campus since they have to be stored in the police department. I dont know where all of the came from, most of my guns are from my dad when he passed when I was 2, he got them via trades, gunshows, and new purchase and since I don't know where they are from, I am afraid of putting them into the hands of a PD. I don't know where the serial numbers will trac back to. I plan on getting each serial number run sooner or later though, so that I know.

you can trace NYC gun control to the "gangs of new york" epicdemnic, sullivan act ...where these laws were put in place by crooked politicians to make it easier for (their own) thugs to operate in the shadows of society... this was largely perpretrated by one party machine (i'm sure you can guess which that is ;))...

While doing anything you can to fight back is most likely the right answer in many situations it is not always the right answer.

We have been preconditioned through years of education and Hollywood movies to not fight back. This coupled with fear and the stress involved with a situation like this, most people are starting out well behind the 8 ball.

I see many here posting about what they would do or what the victims should have done. Thats all well and good but I don't know how many people have had the barrel of a gun pointed in their direction or more importantly had hot lead fired in their direction.

Believe me, it is totally counter-intuitive to break cover and run, unarmed towards a person shooting bullets directly at you. As humans we want to survive and unless you have been trained for that situation, it is a rare person that will run towards almost certain death.

I agree whole heartedly you need to find a way to overcome that fear and do SOMETHING but for many its simply not a reality that will be realized in a critical situation.

Props if you find yourself in a situation like this and prevail.

    A) - This matters why? California has a mandatory 10-day "cooling off period" for all dealer purchases or transfers. The only exception is for long guns over 50 years old, and long guns and handguns over 50 years old for those who have two different types of firearms licenses (one Federal, one California, and yes, I have them both).
California also requires $25 and passing a test in order to purchase a handgun. The certificate is good for 5 years (and is not a requirement for continued ownership, only to make a purchase or borrow a handgun).

    B) - Who cares if the gun was bought legally? It was illegal to carry that gun onto campus. It is also illegal to have a gun other than in a locked container or a locking rack within 1000ft of any K-12 school (and this is federal law, not only California).

All these incidents show is that gun control laws and restrictions are completely ineffective.
Criminals will always be able to obtain guns.
Criminals do not believe they will be caught.

Guns obtained legally by those who have not bee previously convicted or found 5150 MAY be used when that person "snaps" or decides to begin a life of crime.

Not going to happen in Oakland and unlikely in Alameda County.
Oakland has exactly ONE gun shop... it is owned by the Chief and only sells to LEO.

And yes, there are exceptions to many laws, and when something like this happens, it is extremely rare that those exceptions apply to the perp.
