    Rick,
Do you mind sharing the city and dealers name? I'm in Eugene with a new 3 week old Tacoma. Planning on having the tray and U-joints checked after seeing all the posts about these issues.
    Thanks, Ken

Which dealer are you working with, if you don't mind sharing? I want to go there to see if they will be nice to me too-I want to ask them to check trans fluid level. Went to Tonkin and he said there is no way you have any issue if none of the lights came on. I got little mad, but he said that if I swing by in the morning he would send atech with me for a ride.
Makes me super mad when they play stupid!

Gladstone Toyota, very helpful now, but I called some bs on them and now totally awesome to work with. I'm in process of buying right now. If you have issue with Tonkin, just call corporate and tell them of your experience and most likely you will be called for check. Don't take any crap on this. You pay a lot of money for this truck and you should expect to at least have all fluid levels full and greased properly when you drive off lot.

I went to Gladstone Toyota, but you should just go back to your dealer and tell him something in the trans feels like it slips a little. If they don't check level, call corporate and tell them and they will open case. Imo, the best way to address this is to do it before you leave lot first time or wait till 5000 mile checkup. The thing I'm doing is guilting them into checking and they seem to want to appease me on this. I think if you went somewhere where you didn't buy it they might say pound sand that's why I said maybe go back to where it was bought.

One thing is for certain, if you're in the SoCal area and looking to get your trans fluid checked with minimal hassle go to Crown Toyota in Ontario and ask for service writer Emily. She worked with me on getting my trans checked and is aware of this issue.

My question is, knowing about these issues, why purchase the truck in the first place? I was ready to buy one until i came here, now im waiting a year or two for toyota to fix things.

I did and it doesn't matter what you tell anyone or whether it's in writing or not. Unless you check it yourself and know, you'll find out while driving it. If they BS'd you then you'll be spending more free time down there telling them some more shit later on. Good luck.

You are waiting for Toyota to fix this, so you will be buying the 2050 year model when they design a tranny that does not use fluid.
Seriously though, they may not have it figured out or corrected in a year or two, so just find a dealer that will check it.

Knowing all of this, I wired $35,300 on Monday night for a 2016

Why you ask? Cuz I am an idiot. I am sick of not being able to feel the pain first hand of low tranny fluid, vibrations, and poor Toyota customer service

    I was feeling left out

What I am now having a hard time understanding is people who own toyotas, that clearly think toyota sucks at fixing things but still buy toyotas. I mean this 2016 model truck has such a strong cult following who will defend it to the end and say that anyone with issues is just being ridiculous. Idk to be honest tacoma world has almost completely turned me off from buying a tacoma. I dont really care much about the tranny issue simply because ill be buying a stick if i get one but the vibration issues, the kaazu noise, and ungreased u-joints have me on the fence along with toyotas stupid idea to use a canister oil filter rather than a simple screw on filter like 99% of vehicles out there.

Dents in roof from poorly loaded canoe. Broken side mirror from blown transfer truck tire. Scuffed up front bumper from thinking I was still in a corolla. Graham cracker embedded upholstery from a crazy kid.
Or just do it yourself. I'm mechanically impaired and I checked it with no problems what so ever...other than my fight with the heat shield.

I bet if the tacoma was built in japan it would have less issues. As much as we love things made in America it seems were all so dam lazy now that we can't even fill fluids to the correct specs lol.

I'm still holdin on to my "J" VIN 2003 Mazda with an actual throttle cable because it ironically came from Hiroshima plant. I thought it had extra interior lighting but I think it's just leftover radiation
