Rob, if you can get to another dealer, I'd suggest it. Like I mentioned, Kendall in Eugene did mine. They had an appointment for me to come in and get the work done the day after I called and had the parts waiting. Service writer (can't remember his name) walked out, looked at the spring and walked back in, that's all the inspection it took.

Took my 2007 Off Road into Toyota of Santa Barbara...just like the TSB for the springs that they refused to do unless I brought it in fully bottomed out, they are claiming it is an inspection and springs will only be replaced if corroded. They even produced the text of the recall in their system stating springs to be replaced "if necessary", which is a lot different than the text of the recall letter.

EDIT: Called corporate...they state the same thing as the dealership...replaced if corroded only at the discretion of your dealer. Good luck to you guys with friendly dealerships...I wouldn't buy a Toyota from mine if it was the last dealer on the planet...though I seriously doubt my next truck will be a Toyota.

I just got my 2nd notice in the mail last night. It says "ANY AUTHORIZED DEALER WILL REPLACE THE LEAF SPRINGS AT NO CHARGE".

I read thru the whole thing and there is nothing on it about springs to be replaced "if necessary". If they pull that shit with me it'll be a 3 ring circus up in that dealership.

Both corporate and the dealership notice has that caveat. If you have a shitty dealer, they have an out.

Just dropped mine off at the dealer last night. I had emailed the Service Advisor with my VIN so he could order parts ahead of time to save a trip. Took a couple weeks but once the parts came in I confirmed that they would be replacing both leaf packs and he said yes. Hopefully picking it up later this afternoon, but knowing this dealer, probably tomorrow. Thank God I can walk to work.

If they have an "out"...I have an "in". One of my best friends is the parts manager at the dealership I'm going to.

I received the repair recall in the mail, made an appointment for "yesterday" to have it done, no inspection required, called to make sure all the parts were in, I had a couple of other recalls to take care of, as I stated I questioned them as to having the parts!!, they assured me they did, Well you guessed it, No parts, they did the other recalls, (not even sure what they were) but it took about 3hrs, I asked about alignment, they said that would not be included, I argued a little but I understand it won't make any difference, I am not a mechanic but I would think an alignment would be in order after a leaf spring exchange, if I am wrong please correct me! (anyone who has had this done by someone other than Toyota care to comment??) After this experience I may not have this done by Toyota, I just paid for an alignment and do not want to pay for another. I may send a letter to Toyota Corp. explaining my reasons & have it performed by a private party, if I have to eat the cost so be it, I really enjoy my Tacoma, but Toyota & I may be parting ways. I have been treated much better at other dealerships. jmop

If bottomed out means flat... the new ones are bottomed out too.

Really no need for alignment. Nothing to be done. Center pin puts the axle where it needs to be in relation to the springs.

At the time of the TSB, they were requiring you to bring your truck in fully loaded, which for me was about 500lbs before it was riding flat on the bump stops. I know this because I got about that much topsoil and it was sitting on the stops, but by the time the TSB came out, I didn't have an easy way to add that weight to the bed, so they wouldn't do it.

These days, with the original 3 leaf pack, if I put two cases of water in the bed and hit a ditch or bump, the suspension hit the stops. Going to have to get new springs or airbags to tow my tiny travel trailer this summer.

Looks like I still have a fight on my hands. My buddy said Kendall will want me to pay for the extra hour of labor it takes to do a lifted truck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really motherfuckers?

Maybe I'll buy a new spring pack and get the reimbursement!!!!

LOL..For a pavement truck that's mostly used for weekend DIY and summertime camping, replacing shitty worn out 3 leafs with new 4 leafs is worth it to me...maybe they will last more than a couple years. Got truck back and the notes state truck has "3 leaf with 3 clips" and that "double cab leaf spring kit ordered", so unless they are replacing only the clips on some trucks, I guess I'm getting new springs after all...

My Canadian truck came stock with the 4 leaf pack , lost 1 1/2" of ride height in 5 months with just my toolbox in the back
