I got a pair from alcan which are supposed to settle down at 2" lift vs stock, initially my back end went up by 5" when I installed them, but I did ask for a higher spring rate and my stock springs may have been sagging by 2" after towing a trailer from Phoenix to L.A.
They also are supposed to give me 500# extra capacity, but I haven't loaded them up yet to see. Not cheap at about $700 + shipping with u-bolts, and they take about a month, but they're custom made so you can get any specific modifications you want and they're solid (7 or 8 leaves each). I'll have a better overview in August after two road trips and 5 days in Moab.

Not sure why I needed a new set of leafsprings as I just had them replaced a few years back by Toyota for safety reasons when towing (they bottomed out). Oh, and the recall includes a car rental for two days. Should only take the dealer a few hours to swap out. Mine were done in 4hr.

Just ran my VIN on Toyota.com. Showed remedy available. Called my dealership and told them I wanted to schedule the recall work. The service writer said they had to order parts, pulled my VIN and verified it. She said they are typically getting them from Toyota within 5-10 business days. So she said she ordered parts and they will call to schedule the work once the parts arrive....no mention of an inspection...

So we shall see...the sooner they get this recall done on my truck, the sooner I can lift it again!

Went in yesterday for the inspection, and as I knew, they did not have to take it back on a lift for 30 minutes as the service writer kept insisting. It took all of 3 minutes for a tech to come look at it in the service line and say that I needed the new ones. Why I had to schedule an appointment a week ago when I was happy to swing in for 5 minutes for them to get this started is beyond me.

When I asked about the time to get them in and work scheduled, throwing out the couple weeks that I have been hearing here, he corrected me and said it would take a couple months. Pointing to a few pallets of leaf springs, he said he had to get all those done before he could get to mine. I hope they are actually ordering them already, and they will be delivered to the dealership within a couple weeks. Once they are in the shop, maybe I can find a good slot in their schedule to get the work done sooner than his 2 month estimate.

Called Dealer last week, they said it must be inspected. I scheduled it last week for today. Only took 20 minutes and don't need the new springs. I had the "rough ride TSB done 2 years ago and those springs and brackets apparently are fine.

Just got them done, inspection took about 2 minutes, parts were in 7 days later and install took 3 hours. Flagstaff Toyota did a great job on there part. The replacement new 4 leaf package is still terrible though, same sag and very disappointed with their "remedy"

I think the remedy was a similar yet safer performing leaf pack to the original. Mine were installed today. I wasn't expecting a stellar improvement because they are free leafs on a 10 year old truck. My old 2+1 must have been really fatigued because the new pack is definitely more firm. The ride is very much improved. And the brackets and hardware are all new.

I think it's pretty commendable that they replaced the entire system. A simple remedy would be more clips. I never fully understood why they are letting dealers charge $1300 for this repair when a few clips and 0.5 h of a technician would suffice.

Was notified by toyota remedy was figured out, called local toyota dealership to set up time to bring it in, brought it in this morning and as I'm waiting for a ride to pick me up from the dealer they call me to tell me "the parts aren't in" well why the hell did they set up my appointment for this morning! Now it'll be the end of June before they have the parts available for the fix! Seriously about to have toyota replace the entire suspension on my truck for this crap!

I had my leaf springs replaced yesterday, and while they were at it, they also replaced the exhaust pipe to the Cat, a totally separate recall. As many of you noted, I had made an appointment specifically to have these recalls done a couple weeks ago. When I went to pick it up the Service Advisor told me none of the parts were available. Seems Toyota dealerships would rather not do these recalls, and really hope to frustrate folks to the point of going away. Well, I didn't. I asked them to call me when all the parts were available. Got a call the very next day, left a message the "parts" were in, please call back to schedule. I called back, and so that I wouldn't be fooled twice, very precisely asked for confirmation that all parts for both recalls were available. They weren't. Cat pipe was in, leaf packs not in. They seemed incredulous that I wanted to get all recalls done at once, but agreed to call me back when the rest of the parts came in.

Got the call early this week, set up the appointment for yesterday, and got both recalls completed. My copy of the service invoice was all zeroed out, but the dealership's copy, which I had to sign showed $3200 worth of parts and labor.

Anyway, made a 200 mile run today and an incessant buzzing vibration from the exhaust is now gone. Ride is definitely stiffer, and some very small amount of sag is restored to normal height. I am happy, in spite of having to treat service writers and appointment makes like elementary school kids hiding a secret.

Got notification from a buddy that works at a Toyota dealer that he could put my name on a list to get them ordered. He asked how many leafs I have and I said 4 but I'm pretty sure one is an AAL. Do I need to take this off before bringing it in or will they take it off for me?

Mine were done yesterday, the ride is better IMO. The rear ride height (measured below the rear tailights) went up 1/4".

Scheduled for next week. I have never seen such a circus of a recall in my life. I E-mail Corporate, they never respond, then they send a survey a week later asking how my E-mail experience was? :turtleride:

Just got my "remedy" letter the other day. A little later than I thought, I'd expected it to finally show up a couple weeks after I ordered by replacement leaf packs, but I guess 3 weeks after I installed the aftermarket replacements is a close enough second...

Based on the conversation I had with a rep at corporate a couple months ago, I'm not even going to put in for a reimbursement since I didn't wait for my factory springs to break and since they said if I did my own install the wouldn't reimburse any part of the parts cost anyway...

My springs are in. I have an appointment Friday morning to have them installed.

That means I have an appointment on Saturday in my garage to install my AAL and tweak my 5100's!!

What brand AAL? I contacted Toytec a few weeks ago to confirm my TSB AAL will be compatible with the new packs. They assured me it will be. Hopefully that turns out to be the case.
