Quick question, did you have to do anything to the new leaf pack when you installed the HS 3leaf AAL? Did you have to grind the clip or any of the sort?

Happy to hear a positive experience from someone! Hopefully my truck will be back to "normal" once I reinstall the AAL's. I wish my truck was stock when the recall was announced, would've been much less of a headache and I wouldn't be paying to have my AAL's installed twice...

My dealer has been telling me 6-8 weeks on new springs. Waiting on parts.. Just got an OME 3 inch lift sitting in the box waiting to be installed when the new springs come in. Have been tempted to say screw it and buy Dakars but figured I would just go for the cheaper/free option first. Anyone one else having to deal with that wait time?

My dealer took about a month to get the parts in. If you're considering Dakars you should do it. From what I understand it's fairly easy to get Toyota to reimburse for buying a replacement leaf pack. Once you have the recall installed you're stuck with it and if you already had an AAL they won't install it as part of the recall. Call Toyota corporate and they'll give the info you need to submit for reimbursement. I wish I had done that instead of having the recall springs installed without my AAL and now I have pay to have them installed, again...

None of the new leaf pack clips needed to be removed. The front clip on the aal needed to be removed as it would have interfered with the overloads . It was easily knocked off with an air chisel. Pretty straight forward.

I got an alignment as well but I also had my frame replaced.

They didn't do an alignment on mine, and it rode straight after. I'm not sure it really necessary. Probably only a precautionary measure

Got my truck back from the dealer, slip indicator light is still on and they suggested putting the AAL back in to see if the computer recognizes it. I put in the AAL and it's still on. :/

How bad was your frame to get it replaced? I've got a lot of rust, basically at every weld joint and corner and then spots all over. Haven't done a deep dive yet to find any perforated spots

It was pretty bad, they found some small holes in it.

Got my reimbursement check today!!! Toyota did the right thing after an awful mess of a recall! I had these springs made custom by Pohl Springs in Spokane Wa. A company that has been making springs for over 100 years. I wanted a 2 inch rear lift and that is what i got. Toyota saved some bucks but I was pleasantly surprised they stepped up and paid me what I paid to get the lousy 3 leaf spring set replaced. BTW, I asked them to develop a spring that is soft on the highway and strong enough for a load. They came up with a great leafpack! Could not be happier. They are similar to the Dakar's. Lovin them!

toytec lift (eibach, bilstein 5100 at 0, Recall springs +Sumo Springs) seat covers, tint, weathertecs, shrokwork sliders, brute force rear bumper, in bed hi lift.
I installed sumo springs to my recall springs today. It's noticeably firmer and I gained 3/4" lift in the rear. The sumos are contacting the frame in the truck's static state with whatever cabin/bed/slider weight I have. I took it off road and the truck still flexes enough for my needs. I'd say it's stiffer than the 3 leaf aal setup I had before. My centerline measurements are 21 1/4" front and 22" rear. I'm happy with the stance and no doubt it will haul what I need. This is how it looks with eibach springs at the front with billy's set at 0 and 265/70/17 duratracs. I think this is a viable solution...especially given how ez it is too install the sumo springs.

Good to hear about the sumosprings. Seems like a viable option too

Finally got my leaf spring recall done today. I was being hounded for months by the local dealer to trade my 2008 with low miles in for a new one on a new loan and finally I sent the GM Sales an email telling them to stop soliciting me since I'd be unlikely to buy another Toyota product after waiting over two years for a safety recall on my Taco along with three other recalls and no prospect of a Hilux diesel in the future. Next thing you know I get a letter from Toyota asking me to contact the dealer to arrange an appointment to have my leaf spring recall work performed. Hopefully I'll get a chance to get under it on the weekend to see exactly what they did (campaign 253 in Canada), but still not sure I'd change my mind on buying another any time soon.
Not a happy camper with Toyota, not very impressed with how they've dealt with recalls, let alone the fact they were needed at all....... Kinda sad, I had hoped for much better when I bought it over the completely shitty way North American manufacturers treat customers.

Did you email customer service about it? I bought a Dakar leaf pack after I got these recall springs because they're so weak and they're "frowning" and would love if I could get some money back on these
