Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
99 reg cab SR5 4x4, 2.7 ltr, 230,000 mi. Rode hard and actually put away wet. Beat in the wetlands of Fla. every way possible. I drove it as a wetland maintenance company truck til' 2009 when company sold it to update fleet and I bought it. Runs great, no problems just crossed country with it. Would never give it up. Well maybe, if could find a unmolested crewcab trd 4x4 for about $3000. :) Got a few grandkids and need another seat.

So I'm scrolling around looking for a certain topic and stumble across this one.
Bought my '01 on 12/27/2000, new.
    147,000 miles now.
    I don't get out much...

Wow you got yours early. I bought mine in May 2001 and I remember how the 2001 re-design was quite the novel sight to behold then. I remember after finalizing the deal, I had to hang out for 1 hour more while they did final details on the truck. They parallel parked it in front of the dealership and when I got in and started driving off, a few salesmen and a couple customers came outside to watch the truck as I drove off. They gave me a wave as I left. That was a trip but kinda cool to me. I wonder if you can recall that day you bought yours right after Christmas in 2000?

I remember the day I bought mine. At the time, my wife was a loan officer and worked closely with Toyota. So we got a killer deal. Poor salesman couldn't get me to upgrade to power windows & door locks, add a 6-disc stereo, or a plastic bedliner. He tried though. After turning down everything, realized he was a distant cousin of my wife.
I also remember the route of the test drive: around the auto center neighborhood, onto the freeway, in a residential neighborhood to check turning radius & do a 3-point turnaround, back on the freeway, and to the dealership.

Another original owner: '04 X-Cab SR5 4X4 2.7L 5sp 110k Currently waiting for a replacement frame to come in, likely one of the last 1st gens to have this done.

Then and now, I think it's held up well.

Typical frame rust issues living in the NE salt belt. Kudos to Toyota for stepping up and taking care of this.

I never test-drove mine-it went straight from the car carrier I spotted it sitting on to final detail. I recall it was the only black one they had and that was the color I wanted. Tons of grays, reds and whites, and many were equipped with toppers (mine was not) which I think was a promotion at that time.

i honestly feel they have NOT stepped up enough, at least not for me and my situation in my location, i deserve better i think, much better
a lingering and bitter taste still dwells under my tongue
they woulda crushed mine in 2o11 if it was found bad like my relatives '98 was (that they were the 2nd owner of)

do you recall getting an official notice from Toyota to have the dealer inspect it about 10 or 11 years ago?
