Calling all Virginians (Tidewater area)

Just heard from him on FB. It's gone! He's been cleaning his spare stuff out for the last month... to the recycling yard!

 

Has anyone done the ECGS bushing install? Do you still have the removal tool? If so, is anyone willing to let me borrow/rent it from them?. My bushing is getting worse by the day and I think its time to bite the bullet and just replace it.

 

Washed the truck and 4runner. .and plasti dipped the chrome on the 4runner...I hate chrome..wife hates chrome..chrome is no more

 

Tell that to colinb. When you really get to flexing and drooping the rear suspension the leaves try to move and the only thing the ubolts do is hold the leafs to the axle, has nothing to do with holding the leafs in place.

 

Lowe's it is! Just need to order some new U-Bolts and then I have another spring project.

 

Short answer, no they don't. When you articulate the suspension the leaves want to move forward and back. It doesn't matter what kind of ubolt configuration you are running the only thing that ever holds them from doing this is the center pin. I would advise your friend to pull his leafs apart and check the center pin out. I would think that barely touring it would allow some extra movement and a higher shear factor placed on the pin. Resulting in either a cracked or broken pin or maybe just a bent and distorted one.

Yeah I can't remember what size but get the one that is the same diameter and full threaded
Makes lining up leafs easy and allows you to use two wrenches instead of a set of vise grips...the centering pins that came with my AAL were crap and I used a heavy duty bokt and would do it again in a heartbeat!
