Doesnt the manifold spacer make it run leaner?

yeaaa they both went on at the same time.. O2 sensor also a good call. will definitely look into that if all else fails.

on the topic of all else, is "permatex ultrahigh temp copper" gasket maker the right product?

Bank 1 bank 2 system too lean. probably a vacuum leak, (loose hoses, improper installation of intake gaskets, throttle body gasket, check hose at back of intake. Check o-ring on mass air flow sensor. I would check fuel trim with a scanner and report back readings.

I bought a sheet of the Cometic gasket material and cut a new one when the gasket that came w/ the spacer fell apart after I removed it during the cam gear installation. I didn't put one on both sides of the manifold spacer though.o_O

well if the problem persist it may be easy enough to remove the spacer and see if that clears the problem.

i dont have either of these mods done but im betting the manifold spacer is much easer to remove to see if the problem clears

The Cometic gasket @Chris(NJ) mentions goes in between the manifold spacer and manifold. The OEM orange gaskets stays on the intake pendulum (this is a recessed gasket). Not having a gasket on the spacer/manifold side is 100% your issue.

okay, so maybe this cometic gasket is the better way to go than permatex? any idea is there is a PN for that, or does it need to be a custom cut piece?

It's a much better option than slapping permatex on there. It comes in a blank sheet. Look at my pic above. You'll wind up placing the spacer on the sheet, trace it, then cut it out. Your local autozone/oreillys/whoever might even carry it. Otherwise, you can source it through Amazon/jegs/summit.

    Hey Everyone!

I know this isn't really a trading post thread, but I have a brand new set of @mightytacoman machined cam gears I never got around to installing. $100 shipped (continental US only). PM me if interested.

Anyone experience cam position codes or any other check engine codes with this gear swap?

I installed these in May 2020 and have not had a single hiccup. They've been great for nearly 100,000 miles and I cant imagine life without them!
