E2855B82-EEC9-4BE3-AC24-B719F9F39522.jpg Don’t over think it. Line the slot and tooth up with the mark. You can see my OEM paint marks don’t line up to shit. I marked the chain where the tooth goes when the stock gear was lined up so I knew where it came from if anything moved. You would spend all day rolling the engine over trying to line all 3 up. Your not trying to time the engine and get everything lined up like you pulled it completely apart. It’s already timed. Your just pulling off the gear and putting a different one back on.

Just to clarify. Once you line up #1 at TDC you do both banks correct? Not drivers side then have to rotate engine and line up passenger side?

Ahhhh thank you for this sir! That’s what I was confused about and yeah I rolled her over and over and over and got the paint mined up on both sides now at 0. But I kept reading the URD instructions too and I felt like it needed TDC only so I was right but still got the marks lined up. This is exactly what was holding me up today. Tomorrow I guess I’ll use the ratchet strap method from a previous post to hold the wrench on the cam. How hard would you say it was to pop that cam bolt lose? I have a breaker to go over wrench.

    I
used a 3’ chunk 2” tubing. First try I pulled steady until I couldn’t pull any harder. Second go around I wound up and took a half step back and about yarded my truck sideways across the shop. When it popped it sounded like a gun shot but it was finger tight. I actually thought I may have spun the wrench... to give you an idea of how tight.

Na, the 3RZ in my signature is running fine. I have a 2010 as a group trip/date vehicle seeing as how people dont like riding in my 98 with all of its multicolor and rough appearance...:der: i dont get what they are afraid of the thing is mechanically sound just has all the body damage from a life of abuse.

Crazy how tight they are isn't it? I think the engine running- tightens them down more over time. Hence I don't feel this particular nut needs to be torqued.

All gears of gb5 are sold. Gb6 is open- just waiting on enough interest

Read through every post of the thread this week. I told myself I wasn’t going to do any engine mods until I finished my suspension, but I plan on making the jump to 35s next set of tires, and need my engine to run a peak efficiency. Put me down for Gb#6

Awesome, and Thank you, for offering this service. Eventual plan is these cam gears with intake, short tube headers, manifold spacer, and see what gains can be had with a tune. No forced induction for me. 33s, full armor, and 4.56 gears have me pegged at 13.8 mpg right now.

I can give an update I reckon. Short of re gear I’m glad I did this. I run 33s winch, winch bumper and full under armor and before it seemed to drag between 50-70 or where the truck “sits” at highway speeds. Not sure all the proper terminology but now it seems to struggle way less of at all and just seems more open at mid to low range. Definitely money well spent for me and once I get re gear it will only compliment that. I imagine headers and exhaust only amplify this mod even more. Even off the line it seems snappier. It’s crazy to me how this works!
