Test drive was awesome. I feel like the power gained cancels out all the weight I've added to this pig and then some. Time will tell as far as fuel is concerned, but I can say I have no issues going up inclines, and on level ground I can maintain 75 mph at around 2200 rpm, which is a 500rpm improvement over previous on my 4runner. I am VERY pleased. Trans shifts smoother it seems, and holds it's gear better going up hills. Tomorrow I'm hooking up a trans cooler and changing the pan filter. Then Sunday, going to play in the mountains. I will report back my findings. So far, so good.

I’m in the Mira Loma, east vale area. I’d definitely value the additional expertise, as this will be the first engine mod done to my rig.

edit: I was also thinking of hitting up @greenEFSI as well, seems there’s a lot of help to be had in this area!

Spent Sunday wheeling at one of the fave spots, about an hour from home. Usually, with recovery gear loaded, I can fill the tank, do an average run, and come home between half and quarter on the gauge. This time around I came home right at half a tank. Hard to gauge off-road miles/gallon accurately, but the fact that my fuel gauge reads half afterward is reassuring for the fuel economy aspect of this mod. Definitely noticed, appreciated and enjoyed the added torque when climbing hills. Feels much more confident with the steady throttle, didn't slip near as much, was able to scale obstacles faster than usual. Definitely worth the continued tingling and numbness in my right arm lol. Kidding aside, this mod is proving it's worth. I'll be keeping an eye on the fuel gauge in the coming weeks.

So now, a query: I'm curious as to how the rpm at a given speed can drop with this mod? A few different people I've talked to about my results come back with "you can't really change rpms without changing the gearing in the trans or drive axle". So, if that's true, explain my and other's results...

That is correct. Power will not change RPM. Probably with the added torque he is keeping the transmission locked more.

That kind of makes sense, so then since the transmission is receiving more torque, the TC stays locked, so the result is decreased rpm at a given speed?

These have been on my truck for over a year now without a single hiccup if anyone is still on the fence about doing this mod.

I recommend @greenEFSI he did mine for a very reasonable price. And he’s a super chill guy as well.
